will manual ecu work in auto car hi i have a 04 civic Canadian si 1.7 vtec auto... was wondering if a ecu from a standard would work in my car... ecu is fried, and found a new one in a standard car just not sure if it will work... |
Re: will manual ecu work in auto car Signed on to find out. What fries a ECU? What is the normal life of them when all goes well. Know some of the older ones had relays in them that would wear out? |
Re: will manual ecu work in auto car the biggest thing with those year civic, the alternator will take out the ecu witch is what happen to me i think... the top bracket of the alt acts as a ground, so if the bolt is lose, or if there is dirt, and corrosion, it will short out, and take out you ecu.... from what i understand anyways |
Re: will manual ecu work in auto car No it will not work. An ECU from a manual trans car cannot operate the automatic trans. You need a PCM from an identical car to yours, and of course programming the immobilizer before the engine will run. Find and fix the root cause of your PCM failure before you ruin a new one! ECM=Engine Control Module PCM=Powertrain Control Module (engine+trans) |
Re: will manual ecu work in auto car thanks for the info |
Re: will manual ecu work in auto car does it matter what year ecu 01 to 05 |
Re: will manual ecu work in auto car If you go here,http://www.collegehillshondaparts.co...?part_name=ecu it does not list you Canadian car but it says on a USA car that certain 2004 and 2005 are the same. This one and 4 others interchange. Go to your dealer if you do not have a Canada fish site. Take your part number and ask them if their fish lists the years suitable and their part numbers. That's a $500 part from Honda and appears to be a rebuild. |
Re: will manual ecu work in auto car ^ even though they show a core charge, a reman unit would have "RM" at the end of the part number. GOOGLE....Torontohondaparts |
