05 Civic Maintenance Advice?

Hello everyone. I am a new member to the Civic forums out of Oregon. I have 2005 Civic LX. Bought it brand new.

Excited to learn, chat, and find info here...

I have an 05 Civic Lx and I am looking to get some major service done to it (long overdue). The car just hit 135k. I have done the timing belt/water pump, routine oil/filter changes, and brakes. Im going to be taking my car in later this month to get some maintenance done.

My question is… what other items should be done?

Im thinking:

transmission flush
PS flush
radiator flush
brake flush
Spark Plugs
drive belts
radiator hoses
fuel filter replacement

Should I have anything else done at the same time I take my civic in?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks everyone,

Jay

Inspect the car (or have it inspected) for all needs and concerns before doing maintenance. If there is anything critical, of course have it addressed.

Then see how much coin you have left to work with and prioritize accordingly.

transmission flush
Auto trans? Drain and fill ONLY.
Never use chemicals or a machine to flush a Honda transmission. If you believe you must flush it, multiple drain and fills are the Honda approved method.

If you can change your own oil, you can handle this.
Use Hondas fluid ATF DW-1.

PS flush
Drain and fill. DIY. Use Hondas Power Steering fluid.

radiator flush
Drain and fill. DIY.
Again, it's best to use Hondas Type-2 coolant.

brake flush
Every 3 years. Just a fluid exchange.
2-person DIY, or one person DIY job if you have a Mity-Vac tool. Or gravity bleed DIY.

Spark Plugs
Use the correct DENSO or NGK plugs and they will last a full 100,000 miles. DIY.

drive belts
What, this wasn't done with the timing belt job???

radiator hoses
Are they bad? Hardened? Brittle? Crackle when squeezed? Swollen?

Seems like most (certainly not all) radiator hoses can outlast the cars these days.

Inspect and decide before you do a coolant service, may as well do it all at the same time.

fuel filter replacement
Built in to the fuel pump assembly, so it's not a usual service item. 'Sup to you.

To jump on to what he said have a good at suspension components. This is a good mileage to check as a lot of the old bushings, struts, and bearings might be needing to be replaced. Wiggle test works well for this.

Yes my mistake. The drive belts were done along with the timing belt. So was the water pump and the tensioner.
