Fuel/Injectors shut off

Hey Guys,
Im currently trying to work on fuel saving gadgets and testing them for viability and longevity. I'm just curious about the fuel pump and injector setup. For disclosure: this is a 2003 Civic coupe (LX i think?) Manual transmission.

Is there any way to shut off, disconnect, or otherwise stop the fuel pump or injectors non-permanantly? Is there a fuse I can pull, or a connector to pump/injectors I can unplug without damaging the fuel system/engine? I've read up on fuel shut off switches but not on 7th gen civics, are those possible?

I will of course need to be able to run the car as usual when im not testing or working on them for daily driving!

Is this possible? Crazy?? :screwy:?

Re: Fuel/Injectors shut off

Probably simplest to disable the fuel pump by pulling its relay out of the socket, or working with that relay and socket wiring.

If you open up the glovebox, pop the stoppers out of the sides and drop it all the way wide open (as though you were replacing the cabin filters), you should see several relays attached to the dash brace.

The pump relay is there (PGMFI main relay #2 operates just the fuel pump) among a few other relays, but each version of the car may place it in a different position within the group. My info says it is one of the blue relays.

Wire colors in the relay socket for a USA LX are shown in the diagram as

And running the car without it is safe? I could just pop it right back in?

The car can't run on its own without the fuel pump in operation as designed.
But no, you won't hurt the car or the pump by merely disabling it.

If you are supplying fuel from another source to make it run, that's all on you.

That's the entire reason I suggested you work with the pump relay. Quick, simple, easy access.

Awesome Thank you! Since this is my daily driver and I work in the crazy world of TV I need to be able to patch it up quick and not have serious problems. Thanks again!
