help with removing CV join/axle

hello all. im trying to remove my CV join/axle from the hub.....but the blasted thing isnt comming out. :help:

i thought it was suppose to just come straight off.

any advise or tips? anything i over looked? is there a special tool to press it out or something? help help help.

took off the axle nut:

i dont think this matters but.... yes, i have taken off/loosen the lower ball joint.

Easy cheesy man, you need a hub puller or slide hammer. That will not pull off, esp if you've never taken it off before. Go to Autozone they rent both these tools. AND dont Big ****ing Hammer it youll bend the shit out of the hub.

Oh and I always go for the FWD hub puller its much easier. Bolts onto the hub wheel studs and a center screw you crank down on the head of the CV joint which is the piece sticking through that hole in the hub. The slide hammer works nice too but not as easy...

so if i rent the hub puller, i dont need the slide hammer? should i jsut rent both?

what about when i wanna press the hub back in? is there a tool for that or what do i do?

You only need one or the other. Go with the FWD hub puller. You don't need anything to press it back in, the axle nut will do that for you, you just crank it on.
