1 Attachment(s)
the metal pieces that hold the sway bar to the LCA. it can rattle bad if theyre broken. these are moog parts, your oems will be smaller and different looking. but same idea.

Attachment 106377

my 03 civic was making a really bad clunking, rattling noise when i would coast but not when i was on the gas for some reason.
brought it in to get looked at and found out it was the sway bay links.

sounds like you're having the same problem as i was so these guys might be right.

are those same as the stabiliser link bars?...if so, I have changed those twice...same issue

yeah different name for the same part. check the rears too if you have a bar back there. if you have suspension upgrades (lowering springs), those factory links will keep snapping.

check everything again but no progress....does the subframe bar have bushings that could be damaged and cause this knocking?

gearbox 04-15-2010 01:26 PM

Re: 2001 Civic Suspension- FED UP!!!!!!!!!!

yeah each bar has two bushings and holders. if they are torn, you could get metal noises from the bar touching the holder.

hey, I went to another mechanic today and the noise has been reduced significantly...he did something to the left side strut mount and the noise has disappeared....there is a small noise on the right side which he committed to fix tomorrow

But you had changed the strut mounts before, right? installation issues then?

i wonder if he just sprayed some silicone lube, in which case the noise will start coming back a few months later.

Yeah, most probably the case. Happened to me - Agents just lubed all bushings up and it seemed better for a couple weeks
