Autometer A-Pillar Help.

Hey all i got one of those Double gauge A-pillars from autometer, its pretty much the same as the factory one, my question is, do you fix it up so it mounts over top of your existing A-pillar and just drill a hole for the wires to feed through or do you just use the new one alone and double sided tape it to stay in place?

Come on, someone of this forum HAS to have one of these, I just don't want to tape the thing on and drill holes for wiring if thats not the right thing to do.
