2009 Hybrid won't rev past 3k

2009 Hybrid with 247K miles on it - suddenly engine will not rev past 3000RPM - behaves same in every gear, even neutral or park so not a tranny issue. When it hits 3000 it cuts intermittently & kicks back in as if there's something keeping it from revving past that point. No check engine light, nothing unusual on dash other than the idiot oil change and low tire lights I usually have LOL... Car behaves completely normal as it always has until I try to go past 3K. At 247K it has served me very well, and I'm not looking to put any major $ into it... I"m not super mechanical so hoping it's something fairly simple & inexpensive. If not I'll just keep it for the commutes on the back roads til the next thing happens... Any ideas would be helpful - TIA

I have not - I am overdue for an oil change - would low oil cause this, and without throwing an oil pressure warning light? Worth looking at, easy enough... Thank you!
