2008 Civic LX Startup problems So I have started experiencing an issue where the car tries to turn over (sounds like maybe twice) and then nothing. I figured maybe it was the battery since its almost 6 years old, so I replaced it with a brand new one, but the issue continues. Some basic diagnostics show that the battery is 12.77v when the car is off and about 14.48v when the car is running. Battery has a full charge based off my car chargers meter. Any ideas what this could be? My wife purchased the car when it had 96k miles on it and did no maintenance other than the oil changes. My go to was maybe the spark plugs or ignition coils? Would a bad starter cause these issues? |
Re: 2008 Civic LX Startup problems try mechanically agitating (read: smacking the crap out of) the starter (solenoid)? Had starting issues with my 2002's starter not wanting to turn the engine over much, if at all. Smacked the s--- out of it with a socket extension and had zero problems after that. |
Re: 2008 Civic LX Startup problems where the car tries to turn over (sounds like maybe twice) and then nothing. Cranked super slow then stopped? Only clicks? Cranked normal speed but engine won't run? Check amp draw of the starter while this is happening. Starters fail. Probably needs one. |

When you say "nothing", what else do you see? Dash still lit up? Dash went dark? Cranked super slow then stopped? Only clicks? Cranked normal speed but engine won't run? Check amp draw of the starter while this is happening. Starters fail. Probably needs one. |
