New steel or Carbon Fiber Hood
 

My new Honda Civic Si has a lot of hail damage. Which makes more sense in the long run..... replace the hood with exact same steel hood or replace it with a Carbon Fiber hood? There is considerable cost to repainting a new hood. But the Carbon Fiber Hood does not require painting and can look very good as is.

The CF would not be for reducing vehicle weight or racing. And there could easily be a significant cost for shipping in a CF hood, e.g., $300 apparently!

For me the price is what convinced me...I hit a deer and it was $1000 (as quoted by a bodyshop) to buy a new hood and paint it, so I went down to the city and picked up my CF hood for $500, saved me $500 and looks sweet.
