Air filters Aftermarket v.s. oem v.s. K&N Hey guys i stumbled across this youtube video where all 3 Air filters were tested and of course K&N came out as the winner wich was no surprise there, but what was interesting to see was how better the CarQuest premuim filter did over the OEM one On performance, the pleats found on the carquest filter are farther apart allowing more air in the engine is my guess.?? |
Re: Air filters Aftermarket v.s. oem v.s. K&N For actually doing the JOB a filter is supposed to do (catch the most and finest particles of DIRT so they don't enter the engine), OEM is almost always the best. K&N lets a whole bunch of dirt through. Review video @ 5:44-5:55 for his non-answer |

Re: Air filters Aftermarket v.s. oem v.s. K&N even though K&N filters site says different and claims it protects as good as "The police department has thoroughly investigated themselves and found no wrongdoing......" Testing by industry standards levels the playing field. allowing more air into the engine than something is being sacrificed as part of it How much dirt can pass through the filter media? How small are the particles that passed through the filter? How much dirt can the filter catch and hold before air flow becomes significantly restricted? This link has very good info http://rubicon-trail.com/public/K&N%...er%20test.html |
Re: Air filters Aftermarket v.s. oem v.s. K&N Get a k&n if you like to piss money away, otherwise stick with OEM/aftermarket equivalent |
