2010 Honda Civic Emissions Test Hi, So I am looking to buy a 2010 Honda Civic from a dealership. When looking at the Carfax, it stated that the car failed an emissions test last year before being sold to the dealership. I do not have too much experience with cars and found this a little concerning. I was wondering if someone had some insight on questions to ask or whether or not the car is worth buying. Thanks for the help. |
Re: 2010 Honda Civic Emissions Test Why did it fail the test? (there are many possible causes, not all are serious) What part of the test failed? What part of the car failed? Was it repaired, and subsequently passed the retest? What exactly was fixed? If the dealer isn't the one who tested and failed or fixed the car, they may not have any clue what happened. If you are serious about considering purchase, have a pre-purchase inspection done by a trusted and observant mechanic. If it prevents you from buying a rolling disaster, it's $100 well spent. If it uncovers some stuff the car needs, that gives you bargaining power during price negotiations. |
Re: 2010 Honda Civic Emissions Test It's not worth the effort to find out IMO. There are thousands of civics for sale, find one with a clean record. |
