Ricochem OEM coolant
 

anyone use Ricochem oem coolant in there 8th gen civic?
Ricochem claims its fully compatable with (Hondas Acuras & Subaru"s)
blue coolant..?

Who makes the coolant for Honda?

Do you know the specs of either coolant? Compare specs.

Which of their (Ricochem) many different coolants are you going to compare with?

I couldn't even find anything about 'Ricochem' when I googled it the other day...I found Recochem if that's what it was meant to be. I also didn't see anywhere on their website that it specially said anything about Honda compatibility (and they do name some car manufacturers). I just changed my coolant 2 days ago because it was at the 3 year maintenance period. It cost me $25 from Honda (which I do think is expensive) but it lasts for 3 years so not much at all in that sense. People are alway free to use whatever they want....I do get tired of people wanting to save $10 vs using proper fluids though.

my 2 cents (oh wait pennies are a thing of the past now).... my 5 cents :)

When I read this line: "Recommended for use in all makes and models of foreign and domestic passenger vehicles and light duty trucks"
I already know that statement is bullpoop, because the only one that says this is the manufacturer of this product.

Absolutely directed at the consumer market.
BUT the individual pages do have a shopping list of specifications, for those that wish to actually do the research.

I don't have Hondas specs though. Here's all we get

I like this more. Seems as though they really are an OE supplier to the manufacturer with these products.

I'm going to guess you will not find these in the fluids section at your local Pep Boys or DangerZone or whatever you have up there.


I'm assuming "OEM" is a brand name (designed to capitalize on the acronym) here, not an actual acronym.
DangerZone likes to sell parts by that name here.





There are people out there that are far more up to date on coolant tech than I am. I'm just a user.
In YOUR country..... (for the moment).

mispelled it correct name is Recochem coolant" im debating on using this
coolant because after all Honda does say in the owners manual using any
other coolant other than (Honda"s type2 can cause corrosion) Honda will
never specify whats exactly in there coolant so for that reason I think
theres always going to be copy cats that claim theres is as good as OEM.?

It's practically guaranteed to be the correct product for your application.

Op, if you check the manual transmission fluid, you will find out even more quirks Honda specific fluids :)

^ funny... I just did my MTF at the same time. This is the only vehicle I've ever seen take such thin MTF. Every 2 years no less.

Or any of our automatic transmissions....or the CVTs. The new veersion of the CVTs take a completely different fluid from the older ones.

PS fluid, Dual Pump rear diff fluid, VTM4 rear diff fluid, the list goes on and on.


It used to be so simple, any idiot could dump fluids in and get it right.
Now, not so much.
Fluids are application engineered nowadays.
