Air Condition Question

My air condition (2007 civic) all of a sudden does not work. The light on the button goes on, but the hole system under the hood seems dead. The compressor does not engage. I stopped by the dealer and wanted $120 to diagnose it. I thought it might be the fuses so I left. I replaced the fuses in the fuse box under the hood (two fuses), but nothing changed, air condition won't work. Any ideas what can be the problem? Things to check? Thanks...

Is the blower fan coming on ??

Is the light solid on or flashing ??

Re: Air Condition Question

Since the compressor isn't engaging, I'd check the connections to the compressor.

You have an 07 and they want to charge you to diagnose a problem, WTF aren't you still under warranty? Tell them to go and fu$k themselves.

lmao, its called warranty repair for a reason. a brand new car shouldnt have ac just break. i think full warranty is 3 yrs/30k miles at least.

Re: Air Condition Question

Unfortunately it is out of warranty. I already put 40k on it.

The light is solid green, the blower fan and heating work just fine.

In my original post I said I changed the fuses, well what I've changed were the relays in the fuse box under the hood. I looked in the owner's manual and it doesn't say anywhere about an A/C fuse. Shouldn't there be one?

Re: Air Condition Question

It could also be a leak somewhere. If you use one of those recharging bottles for $20 and it colds down again, definitely you are loosing gas Freon. If not, then something else. I would try that though.

Very weird if this is, but if the fans and lights are working fine…
