What type of gas do you use?

Just curious...

87 or 89 octane?
Chevron..Shell...76...mystery gas....

Ahhhhh...mystery gas. LOL!

Whatcha paying for it?

I live in Sonoma CA and right now reg unleaded is $2.79 a gallon....it was up to $3.67 about 2 months ago.

MutantCheese 09-23-2006 09:12 PM

Cheapest that I can find. I actually got my last tankful at $1.99 per gl. I was passing the station at 6:30 in the morning and the attendant was changing the board, when i saw the "1", I made a u-turn and filled up. I bragged and showed everyone at work my receipt as proof, but by the time we all got off the price was back up to $2.16 gl, which is still pretty good, concidering...:D

The manual says 87 or higher... unless you have an Si... says 92 or better for them.

92-93 will not give you more performance unless you are running high compression than what is stock.

$1.99 a gallon

87 octane only. With this car you wont get better milage or performance with 93. Only pay @ 20 cents more per gallon.
I usually buy Chevron/Texaco because thats the credit card I have. I always fear off brand station gas quality. Truth is, they say most gas is the same when it gets to the station. Then the name brand stations pour in whatever additive their corporate headquarters use (ie Chevron with Techron).

probably right you are, i use Quick Trip because it is a huge chain, and i wanna stay consitent with the gas i use and QT's are everywhere around here. plus with all of the business they get, if they **** up, CLASS ACTION!!!

SLRMclaren 09-24-2006 06:22 PM

I use QT also, sometimes chevron, its like 2.19 over here

X026092 09-25-2006 06:56 AM

Yes, the cheap gas works fine.

DeeAliganga 09-25-2006 12:04 PM

i use 89 from exxon. and only that, never used anything else

Wadely 09-26-2006 09:22 AM

They Say To Use Premium In Vehicle With Hi Compression Such As The Si, Usually With Compression Ratios Over 9.5 Or 10 To 1, So Keep In Mind The Base Model Civics Also Have Over A 10.1 To 1 Compression Ratio, Therefore I Use Premium In My 06 Lx

06civicuser 11-10-2006 04:53 PM

I use Shell 87 octane in my civic ex coupe auto.Runs good with it.

landonab 11-10-2006 10:39 PM

Blue (89?) from amoco. have bought gas there for 10 years, never had problems with it.

edit: sorry, I forget these forums are not generation specific. I have an 05 and this thread is for 8th gens.

06CivicHybrid 11-11-2006 05:20 AM

i don't really it think it matters for gen specific.

i use 93 % on all cars and 87 for the Hybird, well 93 is only type offered here in JP so its all good.

GTOCivic 02-20-2007 09:25 PM

I would advise against using Premium. If the car is designed to run on 87 octane and you put 93 octane in you will have unspent fuel build up in your engine.

You may be able to get away with 89 octane since this is a higher compression motor and with some spirited driving you should be able to, 'blow the carbon out', but I wouldn't go as high as 93.

I filled the tank (11.5 g) with 92 octane by accident, and got 1.5 mpg less than with 87. I'm sticking with 87.

Re: What type of gas do you use?

I run nothing but Shell 93 octane V-Power in my Si.
