Tightening the handbrake

Hey boyz,

This is quite a stupid question but i'll ask anyway, i remove the middle console where the handbrake is and tighten the leverage nut so i don't have to pull the the nad brake so high when i park or trying to attempt a hand brake turn, but after tightening the nut it feels like i 'm driving with the handbrake on, you know what i mean? has anyone done this before and really dose it affect it?

thanks:

yeah i want to tighten my hand brake and I was wondering if it is possible to do it your self??

Sounds like you tightened it too much. It's just a cable(s) that go directly to the rear brakes. So, if you tighten the cables too much, you will engage the brakes. If it is too loose then you'll have so much slack that pulling the handle won't pull the cable far enough to engage the brakes.

I guess you could jack up the rear of the car and spin the tires while tightening (or loosening in your case) the bolts to check for resistance. That's the only thing I can think of.
