Need to install a new interior driver's side door handle on 1995 Civic

1 Attachment(s)
Yesterday I went to open my door and the handle broke. It was the casing of the handle actually that broke in half...now I can't open the door from the inside!

I have ordered a replacement part and was wondering if this is something I can do myself. I'm very handy and would love to save money & try to fix it on my own.

Here is a photo of what I'm talking about...

Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

yeah it should be easy. see that screw, take it out and the whole handle should pull out, or you may have to slide it one way and then pull. then disconnect the metal bar by prying off that rotating plastic clip. dont worry if you break it, the new part will come with another one. in fact you can take it off now and just pull the metal rod to the front of the car if you want to open the door. its maybe a 2 minute job.

Thanks a million. Sounds easy enough...and will cost me WAY less than taking it into the dealer for repair.

I'll let you know how it goes once I get the part....

cheers.

Just finished installing the new door handle & it works great. The only thing that was a bit strange was that the screw holes for the lock piece on the replacement part were a little off. So I just screwed it onto one side. It might not look perfect, but at least it works.

cheers!
