Please help!! need info on a progression of mods & motor

Hey guys and gals, i have just bought a 1993 honda civic GL 4 door my first civic and was wondering what i can do to it to give it a lil more go? I want to gradually do bits and pieces to it over time and start with the essentials (also keeping in mind cost).
I'm not to sure what motor it has but i know its a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre engine has a single overhead camshaft, 16-valve cylinder head and twin carburettors in it but this is stock standard, i think it maybe a d15c non vtec :( ? Another thought i had was to just save my pennies and do a conversion to a b16a2 or b18c, can i go the d-series? will it fit easily?
Sorry for the questions but i just wanna know if its worth it or not or should i run this engine out and wait?
cheers, rix

first let me say that the possibilities are endless when u own a civic.

there are a millions of parts options and a ton of manufacturers that make parts for civics.

Upgrading to a bigger engine is always worth it. just depends on what kind of stats you are looking for.

If u really wanna get up there in power then you def need to upgrade with a swap.

just looking for driveability and a lil more power then bolt-on upgrades are for you, such as cat-back exhaust, headers, cold-air intake, and so on.

so first decide how u want your car, then work your way from there.

but let me say this, once you get more power, u will want even more than that, thats just how it goes. LOL

LOL damn now your just teasing me!!! im already not sure which way to go lol... i dont want it to be super super quick but i want it to run really smooth with a nice sound to it, oh and not to lag as much as it does at the moment.. the reason im thinking of changing the motors over is because the one thats in there has done over 300k's... i know this sounds bad but i got it from a family friend so i know where its been and where the k's come from... i just dont wanna go blowing it up..

b series yes, h22 requires a lot more work. just buy a b18c1 and call it a day.
