How to adjust stock alarm sensitivity on 2002 Civic EX??

So my 2002 Civic EX's stock alarm is so sensitive I HAVE to adjust it. Does anyone know how to go about doing so? And if this can't be adjusted, how can I disable the stock alarm but retain my keyless entry function? I searched on here and Google and came up empty-handed, so any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

as far as i know you cant adjust it but you can turn it off, turn the key to accessory and turn it back off than push the flashing alarm led button in it should stay solid and that means its off, to turn it back on do the same thing and the light should turn off or start flashing....the led light is to the left of the steering wheel and to the right of the mirror and moonroof controls if you didnt know

Shur you can adjust it... Directly under your wheel there is a compartment you can remove. remove that and you have a whole mess of wires and 1 BOX! the box has a dile. turn the dile to adjust sensitivity!! Any questions?? I learned this when I installed my carbon fiber Bazzel...

I have an 02. soooooooooo I dont have much experence with your car. But I made mine real sensitive. for example if my alarm is on and I close my hood real soft like... it goes off :hgrin:

now maybe I am confused, but is the keyless entry the same thing as the alarm system? I have the keyless entry, with the remote and what not, but is that the same thing as the stock alarm system?

DDragon7 02-17-2006 10:55 PM

I thought the stock alarms didnt have sensors?

RHCP0801 02-17-2006 10:59 PM

yea im pretty sure the keyless entry is the same as the alarm system, when i push the lock button it beeps once and if i look in the car i see the led light blinking and if i touch the car it starts to beep really loud, and if i hit the unlock button it beeps twice to disable the alarm and opens the door and the led light stops blinking

streetglower 02-18-2006 05:29 AM

mine never goes off unless I push the panic button. this weekend I will see if I can find the knob to control the sensitivity.

i would go out and check now but its 20 degrees out with 40 mph winds, i think ill wait till another day :)

Honda's factory alarm doesn't come with a dual stage shock sensor.... well atleast they don't in Canada.

grncivic2001 02-18-2006 05:48 PM

can someone get pics on how to adjust? my car was broken into and nothin happen as far as alarm going off. can't find nob

PictureMeRollin 02-21-2006 10:47 AM

Hey Everyone, I can confirm that my 02 EX Stock Alarm is in fact adjustable! I took the advice on here and took my steering column molding off (only to find that the shock sensor was accessible from the fuse panel)! So, if you're looking to adjust, all you really need to do is pull of the fuse panel cover (under the wheel by your feet) and my shock sensor was zip tied to a large bundle of wires coming from inside the dash up to the steering wheel. As I expected, it was for some reason of another set extremely sensitive from the factory. If anyone is still having trouble finding this I wouldn't have a problem taking some pics. Thanks again!
