Ya can never find what ya want, when ya want !!!!!!!!!("einstein?")
anyway "The full line is to be meet at total cold with no oil in the upper part of the engine, low line (quart low) after a prolonged stop!"
Mostly all of this is :screwy: , any time is OK! its not a race motor:rofl:

I don't remember what it said in my civic manual....but my 06 Frontier manual tells me to do that.

coolant should be topped off in the resevoir to the max line while engine is warm unless the resevoir says "max cold"
(i dont remember if our car even has these lines on the resevoir.)
you could just "burp" the system, start it while its cold with the radiator cap off, then while air bubbles escape and level goes down refill it until no more air comes out for a while and you see the level rising.

id check the tranny fluid while its running....just incase it makes a difference in some cars maybe.

related info: wipe clean the dipstick the first time you pull it out, then stick it back in and pull out for reading

hm....what i did....

from cold condition......run it for 15 seconds or so.....

then check.... (like above post)

ncirom2003 01-14-2006 04:04 PM

checked engine oil or tranny??
engine dont run it first, tranny let it run till its warm.

MajinB 01-14-2006 05:16 PM

i got taught do it when the car is hot BUT after its been off for 5 minutes so the oil can settle to give an accurate reading.

show0and2go 01-14-2006 05:18 PM

how high should the oil be? or how low is too low?

MajinB 01-14-2006 05:20 PM

too low is when the dipstick is dry. too high there is a marker. there is also a marker that says add one quart

Logovaz 01-14-2006 05:21 PM

i think you suppose to warm up the car to its operating temp then turn it off. let it sit for 5 min and then check

PlasmaGT 01-14-2006 05:28 PM

I was taught to check it ~10 minutes after driving

gearbox 01-14-2006 05:55 PM

i got K&N filter from dezod. i'll prolly just use dino oil still like valvoline

boricua_civic 01-14-2006 06:08 PM

^Why not synthetic?

gearbox 01-14-2006 06:42 PM

dino + lc20 is good enough for a civic and i can still go 5-6 months between changes.

page 161 of my 03 owner's manuals says wait a few minutes after you turn off the engine, so yeah check it while its warm...auto tranny on page 213 says at normal operating temperature...the way i that it auto tranny and oil at operating temperature....and coolant at cold...and manual ..well if you have to ask then i suggest after the cars been on for 5 hours straight
