Headgasket?

Is there a such thing as a ex head gasket and a lx headgasket?? Are they exactly the same? I was wondering because i did the headswap and used a lx headgasket and i was leaking oil so i took everything apart and i got another lx headgasket but my mechanic says there is a difference between the two. I looked up the part numbers and they are exact same for the nippon leakless so does it matter? O yeah at this moment i don't think it was leaking oil because of the head gasket i just decided to get another new one just to be safe.

thats a good question, but I would assume there would be a difference because of the whole vtec thing, unless that lx is vtec

i swapped to vtec but the only difference in the head is the vtec solenoid and that has nothing to do with headgasket

all the 01-05 civic's whether it be the HX, DX, LX, EX 2 or 4 door all use the same head gasket. All part numbers are all the same.

Now if you were leaking oil after the install, then you either didnt correctly install the head ( didnt properly torque the head bolts in the proper sequence ), or you had a faulty head gasket or the gasket wasnt seated properly.

I left the guiders out and according to the mechanic i didn't torque the head right but i know i did it goes 13 pounds then 36 then 43 something like that and you have to go from the middle out. Thanks for the info streetglower i know i can always count on you

Just some FYI, the torque sequence is

8 6 2 4 10
9 3 1 5 7

And the torque sequence is 14, 36, then 49 ft. lbs of torque. Just incase you need to know for future reference. Glad I could help out.
