Does anyone know the average labor cost for installing lowering springs??? What did you guys pay??? How is Sears or should I go to like a tire garage??? Any suggestions? |
i work at a dealer and we charge 1 hr per spring and our labor rate is $67/hr so basically $228........ |
well........... unlike the dealers.... if you take it to a performance shop.... they normally charge you 50 bucks a side........ so four side....... 200 bucks...... I got mine put on for 175 so it's not bad....... i could of done it myself....but i dun trust myself with my suspension hahahhahaa |
my co-workers friend(he owns a racing shop), said he'll do it for 80. this other place said they'll do it for 100 |
$100 at a shop.....free if u do it urself:tup: |
i dont really trust myself with the suspension... what happens when i'm goin 100 n my sh*t just drops. it does seem easy tho but i dont have any jackstands or spring compressors so ya i'll just leave it to them.... |
Anything around $100 is reasonable... Don't forget to get your car aligned afterwards... |
A local guy here can get my Eibach sportlines and will put em in for a total of ~$450.. which is what i'm gonna do when the weather gets better and such.. i'd do it myself, but messing w/ the balljoint and all that junk.. i'd rather not... -ds |
Ya we need to include the install charge+the alignment....they do do alignments for free |
i guess my price is cheap then... 280 installed |
So the average seems to be about $200. |
I'm only 17 and i did it my self went to a shop on a airforce base and jacked it up took off the tires and just replaced the springs with the diy instructions it took about 3 hours to do all 4, if i had to do it again i would have used a lift. tools consist of air gun with all size bits, you'll need a spring compressor and a jack but thats it. the diy tells you everything else. i haven't had any problems and it looks good but i just did it myself to save money. if you can, i would try to do it your self its good to know a little about your car. |
where's the diy for it? |
It's VERY easy to do yourself. If you can change your rims, you pretty much are mechanically inclined enough to do it yourself. All except compressing the springs to fit on your shocks/struts. There are plenty of DIY instructions on the web. I did the whole job in about 3 hours, and it was my first time. The muffler shop did the spring compressing for me for 30 bucks. He said the backs I could have done myslef. Good luck. PS- subscribe to sport compact car, or honda tuning magazines, they always have tips like those in there. |
I've seen the spring kits for $195 and my tire shop says $100 for install so the $280 installed is a really good deal. |
i got coil overs and installation for 200, but i think thats cause i am in a car club. maybe not though |
Did mine myself, without a DIY i didn't know there was one, boy did i learn alot about suspension, if yer close, il do it for 20 bucks! hehe u can rent spring compressors for 40 bucks at daps or pepboys or such. thats what i did anyway, they suck but they work |
Me and my 2 cousins put my Ground Controls in, in a hour and a half. |
Had complete shocks, springs and rear bar installed at Big O tire store here in Sparks, NV for 300 including 4whl align. You might take a look at Tirerack's installer guide for your area. Just happened shop I used was within walking distance of the house. |
