Turning off trunk light - the solution I don't know how helpful this will be to anybod but me, but I figured out how to easly turn off the cargo light in the trunk. I often find myself leaving the trunk open for many hours at a time, and even leaving it open over night by accident. I always worry about the battery drain from this light that never turns itself off (just recently I found that all the other interior lights go out by themselves after about 15 minutes - even if you leave a door open). Anyway - here's the deal. After you open the trunk, just lower the lid until the catch touches (but does not catch) then open the lid back up. The light should now be off. If you want the light back on, just close the lid completely, and reopen. I have no idea how this switch works (grounding at the catch?), but that's how to turn the light off. If this info helps anybody else, then I've finally given some small thing back to this great forum. |
Hum... I'll give that a try when I need to. Thanks. |
Not that it looks like anybody is really interested in this - but I figured out what the deal is. It has nothing to do with the contact, and it doesn't always work when you just lower the lid and touch the catch. I fooled with it a bit, and finally realized that the catch is also the switch for the light. If you look at the catch (the part on the lid) you'll see a white plastic thing right in the middle. This is what the hoop (the part inside the lower trunk lip) strikes to close the latch. If you press up on that white part far enough, you'll turn the switch off (as if the trunk is latched). It can be a bit stuff. But seriously, I use this all the time so I can leave the trunk open. Sometimes we just park and live out of the trunk, and having to open it with a key or the release can be a pain in the butt when you do it 30 times in a hour. So again - I hope this can help somebody else, though I kinda doubt it. |
Yep that is why there is no plunger (like in the door jabs)! Because the latch has internal switch! Which is how my trunk neon turns on! When i open trunk booooooyeah! Neon in your grill! |
you can always just pull that bulb out:) |
<< you can always just pull that bulb out:) >> I was thinking the exact same thing. hehe. |
<< (just recently I found that all the other interior lights go out by themselves after about 15 minutes - even if you leave a door open). >> the interior lights wont go out if you have the switch on for them. grey found this out the hard way a few months back when he left them on for a day and a half and got a dead battery |
Man, the other day I was doing some shiz to my car and had doors open and my stereo on, I went inside for like 2 hours (forgot about the car) and came back to find my battery dead. Sucked. |
<< the interior lights wont go out if you have the switch on for them. >> That is correct, unfortunately. But if you simply leave a door open, they do shut off. |
i tried that thing with the trunk light. when i did it, the latch closed like the trunk was closed, and my retarted ass tryed to close it.... it bounced off the latch and opened up again. i looked real dumb infront of my friends, and i quickly unlatched it. btw, when i locked my trunk lever inside the car, it got locked perminatly. now i have to use the key to open it up. it feels so ghetto and i haven't gotten a chance to talk to honda people about it. i have to go like monday and have them check it out. anybody else have this problem? |
