WTF?! Energy suspension REAR motor mount WON'T FIT - Blame Honda!

FVCK! This really pisses me off...It looks like its not even molded correctly!!!!!

Who has installed these - please provide some feedback here, the front fits fine, the rear just won't go in...

This is BS - I talked to energy suspension. They were saying that since my cars manufacture date was 11/00 that they probably used a 00 mount in it (bullshit - the factory mounts look different in the 00 and 01 according to majestic honda's web site)...

They are going to look at the photos to see whats up - I doubt there is much they can do. Here are a few photos for comparison:

http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/at...id=41566&stc=1

You can see a little of the black part on the upper left of the red insert - this is where it does not fit!! They molded the fvckers wrong.....

aznboysrfr 10-27-2004 06:14 PM

drivetofast has the same problem

What was his solution?? Energy suspension is looking at the photos right now...I'll let you know what they say....

aznboysrfr 10-27-2004 06:17 PM

his solution? ... he cut them ... and after failing that, he just left it out

Redline04 10-27-2004 06:22 PM

Damn, let us know what they say. I have mine sittn here awaiting install sat. I have an 04 I hope I won't run into this.

what year was his car? If it was an 02 than energy suspension fvcked up...

opto_isolator 10-27-2004 06:24 PM

Hmm - his profile says he has an 01 as well....

Wonder if honda fvcked something up!

aznboysrfr 10-27-2004 06:24 PM

01 ..

aznboysrfr 10-27-2004 06:25 PM

time for energy suspension to recall 43789127493264379249329 mount kits

R1Style 10-27-2004 06:28 PM

03CivicSi had the same problems.... he ended up shaving them down to fit.

opto_isolator 10-27-2004 06:41 PM

Good to know I'm not the only one they fvcked over....dammit this sucks.

djmota 10-27-2004 07:46 PM

Take a bench grinder to them and narrow the ears untill they fit the mount. You have to take alot of material off to get them in there. It has been stated before that the rears are a biatch to get in there. Its almost funny how easy the fronts where to install huh?

You should not have to do that - the mounts were molded incorrectly. I'm not grinding my stock mount down for this bs - they are going to fix this shit....

gtracing 10-27-2004 08:12 PM

yea, i had the same problem..just start cutting with an exacto knife

oh..and cut your ES one...DO NOT CUT YOUR FACTORY ONE!

djmota 10-28-2004 10:53 AM

This is what I meant. I found that a bench grinder is much easier than an exacto....a bit safer also.

opto_isolator 10-28-2004 05:26 PM

OK guys - I've talked to Kevyn Smith at energy suspension. He tried to compare the photo to the other mounts they have there - none of them were correct. If you guys had mounts that didn't fit - or were bad - PLEASE CALL HIM and let him know! There is something wrong with their design - the only way to fix it is to have it brought to their attention.

Their # is 949-361-3935

opto_isolator 10-28-2004 08:01 PM

Good news - got the car back together - used the stock rear bushing, didn't install the ES one....still waiting to hear back before doing anything to the rear.

The car is much more responsive with the front mount in!! The only problem is there is lots of vibration at idle. At about 1000 RPMs it goes away - but this is def a perfomance mod!

Rip3785 10-28-2004 08:34 PM

LOL, ES sucks for quality control in terms of accuracy.. I've experienced a similar problem with a bushing kit for a tacoma. It's been wrong for years and years and hundreds of people have told ES about it.. But they keep selling the kit with a wrong size sleeve and you gotta ream it out. Sucks a big one!

SODJAZERO 10-28-2004 10:05 PM

how much were these incerts?

gtracing 10-29-2004 01:21 AM

around 25 bucks US i believe...i dunno, i got mine for 30 canadian

this is actually the first time i've used ES, i like the idea behind their work, for quality control wise...i dunno much about it, like i said, first timer...

but for quality fitting wise..the front one's fit like a glove....they should all fit like gloves because they basically make molds out of the oem one and fill it with polyurethane to fill in the voids, take it apart, voila...

and yes, ES definitely has to know about this....they should replace all of them for free...

Jeff 10-30-2004 01:59 AM

I had the same problem =) Start cutting haha

The problem is - if you cut them they still don't fit like a glove (they are kludged into place).....sure it helps a BIT, but it sort of defeats the purpose....I am going to ride their ass until they fix it.

gtracing 10-30-2004 05:50 PM

^but think about it...what IS the purpose of the em's...it's to fill in the voids of the oem one....and honestly, if it's close enough, it's good enough...it's not like that "perfect" fit is gonna make ur car noticably faster off the line

xproductionz 10-30-2004 09:40 PM

i did my friends one and i just used a dremel to slowly shave little by little off the sides... now it fits like a glove... no movement

opto_isolator 11-08-2004 06:50 PM

Guys - good news and bad news. Kevin Smith doesn't work with energy suspension any more. Good news is, I spoke with Kevin Taeger tonight. He says he has seen these before. He is going to get a hold of one tomorrow morning and see about sending me one.

What gets both of us is that he said he has sold 1000's of these things, and no one has complained to ES. I don't understand why....I don't see my mount as being a fluke, as some of you others have attested to....

gtracing 11-09-2004 02:11 AM

mine doesn't fit...i just guess a lot of people won't waste their time on something that's only 20 bucks....but if they want me to testify i'll gladly send them an email

opto_isolator 11-10-2004 12:44 PM

Ok kiddies - it starting to seemthat Honda changed the design of the mount between the 2001 and 2002+ series cars.

Energy had a mount there that they were looking at - it appears that the mount design changed compared to the picture sent them. They didn't change the part number however....

So - I am going to send them my mount when I get a new one, they are going to evaluate the situation further.

Redline04 11-10-2004 05:01 PM

so they WILL fit 2002+ cars correct? 01's are screwed right.

Not 100% sure yet. They may have used a mount from an automatic, rather than a manual. They have two different part numbers listed at majestic honda's web site.....

I don't feel like spending $35 to find out what's wrong though.....
