Hi-milage cars. Who's got 100k miles + Just turned 100k miles on my '01. Not one problem. Still running the stock battery. Best milage was about 450 miles on one tank. I've never had it go under 400 miles to the tank, even hauling 4 people. :) Anyone else have a hi-milage 7th gen? |
Guess I'm in the minority. |
144k and runs like new |
120,000 on my 01 |
How many of you have actually racked up all the miles you have on your car, or you bought it used and put less miles on it to where you are today. I have putten 75k original miles on my car, bought it in august of 02 brand new with 6 miles on it. |
^ I thought this was a high mile thread.. I've put all 86K on mine |
Have you guys wil high miles done all the maintenance? Has anything happened like mechanical stuff? How do you drive...flooring it or like a granny? |

Only mainatance I have done is 1 coolant flush, 10 million oil changes, 1 tranny fluid drain and refill, had it flushed out with torque converter at about 50k, then changed it at 65k, and alot of brake changes. Only other thing is had a new throttle body installed when I sucked a shit load of water in. SO I have done very little mainatance and my car runs great. |
Bought my 93 new now has 132,000. All i've done recently do a valve adjustment and i change my oil every 30,000 mi. |
Bought my 01 LX 5 speed sedan new on 12-13-2000 , car has over 102,000 miles on it. Still has the original battery and replaced front brake pads at 98,000 miles - still had plenty of life in them. Replaced front struts at 92,000 miles. Engine runs great! |

oops sorry extra zero in there. sorry guys |
I switched to Amsoil 5W30 at 90k miles. Drained the tranny at the same time, and added Amsiol ATF to it. Changed the front pads once. Thats it. I only floor it when needed, so maybe a couple of times a month. Most of my miles are highway. Need to do the timing belt, water pump, drive belt change, but I'm just trying to push it some. The drive belts look good as new, so I don't see why the timing belt would be any worse. Also waiting for a Chilton book to come out, may do it myself. |
I have 167,000 miles on my 01 ex |

had one problem with the ac and got it fixed, they replaced the timing belt and a bunch of other things but they said my timing belt was brand new, nothing wrong with it at 125,000 -i don't know if it true but it looks like my car has the most miles on it |
So you had the timing belt changed at 125K? And they said it looked like new? |
yeah said it looked like the one that they stuck back in the car |
How often do you guys change your oil? Mechanics try to rip you and say 3k, the manual says 10k, do any of you actually go 10k each time, or compromise and go 5k? If you have a turbo or something, say so... I assume that those with turbos have to change it every 2k or 3k, depending. |
lets not wait after 10k to c wut will happen to ur engine i change mine 300 miles b4 3ki use valvoline 5w-20 durablend |
I change every 3k or 3 months. Even after that the oil is really black... Does anyone have an auto on their high mile cars? |
ive been doing mine, with conventional oil, every 5-6k. However, I just started putting synthetic in it, so this one will probably be 7-8k, and after that I'm going to try 10k. |
Gearbox, mine is an auto. As far as oil changes. When I was running 5w20, I always changed it at 5000 miles. When I switched to Amsoil, I change the oil and filter every 10,000 miles, and just the filter at 5000 miles. |

The post that say for example, 10k and no problems... I'd hope you wouldn't have any problems. :_doh: |
Lol. So it seems like our cars do pretty well over time for the most part. Now do any of you have mods, or is the car stock... I'll try and delete some of the posts tonight that don't apply to the thread. |
Just turned 140K yesterday. I try to change the oil every 5-6K and flush coolant and tranny (5 spd) every 45K or so. No major problems for me. I changed the timing belt with a few friends of mine but it would be difficult without the right tools (air guns, lift, etc...) With all that stuff it wasn't really that bad. We did the belts and the water pump in about 3 hours and to be honest at 100K the parts were in really good shape and didn't need to be changed. My wheel bearings are starting to go so the current to do list is wheel bearings, rotors and fluids. I am keeping the clutch in mind as a possible replacement this year because of the mileage but it still feels strong. I still get over 400 miles per tank also. |
Okay I cleaned up some posts. Let's keep this on topic please. Also, when did most of you change your timing belts? I was also told that the harmonic dampener in the crank pulley goes bad around 60-80k, so it's good to change that when doing the belt. |

I'll ask around about it. |
Just an update on this old post. I'm at about 120,000 miles now. Still doing fine. I had to replace the throttle body due to a bad tps. I also had the timing belt, drive belts and water pump replaced about 10k miles ago. But everyting else is stock. Anyone else have more miles then 120k? Or close? |
