installing an OBX header on 2001 LX w/out a catalytic converter I am working on having an OBX header installed on my 2001 Civic LX. The reason I am putting a header on the car is due to a cracked exhaust manifold and I do not want to pay the price for a new one. My question is what mechanical complications might I run into if I have a custom down pipe made and run it with out a catalytic converter? I know that the Check Engine light will stay on which I am not concerned too much about right now. I am concerned on whether or not this will hurt the motor in any way. Any feedback would be appreciated. |
The obx header for LX doesnt need a custom downpipe... it already connects to the exhaust without the cat. unless u got the EX version of the header.. then now u do need a custom downpipe. i got an obx header installed on my girls car without the cat... if you need i'll show u some pics |
Is there a place for both of the 02 sensors on the header. |
Pics would be nice. Thanks. |
if there is a place for 2 o2 sensors, on the header then its for a lx. if there isnt then its for a ex. |
Thanks for the responses, I will not have the header until Tuesday of next week but I ordered it from tuning depot.com and it is listed to be specifically for an lx. |
yeah i got it from there... u'll probably get the some one i did. |
Hey vietfob714 how 'bout the pics of the header. I received mine but I think I got the one for the EX which will not bolt on to my downpipe. The guy I bought it from tells me that it would but I don't think so. Anyone knows if there is a difference between the one for the EX and the one for the DX/LX?? TIA |
If you got the same one then it'll have a cat converter that you cant have... the lx will lose its cat. go to my cardomain site it'll show some pics http://www.cardomain.com/id/vietfobette541 if you got nemore ques pm me |
