Good DIY post. I thought you have to remove the bumper to install a CAI, maybe it's just for the Injen one? I guess going under your car is a lot easier for filter changes/cleaning.

Yeah, I try to keep all DIY's up here in the tech forum until they get put up in the DIY section of the site.

May want to also include notes that this info will work for a SRI as well, just don't use the instructions for the second pipe, as an SRI doesn't have one. But the rest of it, removing the stock parts, and attaching the O2 sensor and first pipe mount, is all the same.

you need to cut the inlet pipe on both sides of the template that is wrapped around the pipe and just put it on

Also make sure you sand down the edges after you cut. And then run some water through the pipes to get all those little pices of metal out. Then dry it.

Phong, do you have a 5 speed manual or automatic, if it is manual are there any aplications for an automatic 2001 civic?

Last I rememeber reading... the CAI can't install on the automatic. I think the transmission is bigger and is in the way of the lower tube placement.

Right. The AEM for the EX automatic just comes in Short Ram. I just put one on mine. I like it.

If this is a cold air system, why is that the air filter is behind the radiator fan, this is where the hottest air is! hot air from the radiator! I was thinking to go to a muffler shop an make an extention down to the side of the fender, and then to the bumper, what do you all think!!!!!!!!!

I think that's why people get the Injen CAI. Because the filter sits into the front bumper away from the radiator.... but it requires the removal of the front bumper...

I'll see if I find the way to make an extension so I can relocate the fiter inside the bumper!:tup:

What will happen if you dont reset the ECU? after installing the CAI

Be sure to get the Bypass valve also or your'e engine will be in trouble if you run into puddle or flood

I dont think so that the radiator fan has the hottest air! Have you tried wiring your radiator fan backwards! Instead of the air blowing thru the engine the air will blow thru your radiator! I know you dont get it but try it reverse the wire of your radiator fan and let see what will happen
