2001-2003 Civic Recall?

I heard from a friend that they are recalling the 01-03 Civic's for a headlamp wiring problem. I guess they said the bulbs keep blowing out every few months and its become an issue. Anyone else heard this. I am gonna call up my Honda dealer tomorrow to check up.

Also I hope that if there is a recall that they wont tell me its my projectors.

Honda recalls 440,000 Civic and Insight cars

Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Honda Motor Co. is recalling 440,000 Civic and Insight cars because their low-beam headlights can fail without warning, the company said Tuesday.

No injuries have resulted from the defect, Honda spokesman Andy Boyd said. The recall involves 2001-2002 model year Civics and 2000-2002 model year Insights.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which also announced the recall, the headlights' wire harness can overheat and cause the low-beam headlights to fail. Boyd said drivers could still use their high-beam headlights in all cases.

Honda will begin notifying owners this month about the recall. Dealers will perform free repairs on the vehicles whether or not they show any heat damage.

I had a problem. The same night after I got the car put the headlights on, about 15 minutes later the light bulb inside the headlight just burst into pieces. Went to the dealer and the replaced it free of charge. Yet after they replaced it, now it keeps on fogging up from the inside of the headlight. Dunno...., g2g see them again, they're accusing my of using aftermarket bulbs as the cause of fogging.

DigitalSleeper 03-15-2004 04:18 PM

AH HAH, I was wondering why my bulbs keep going out that often - after the first set went out i payed for a 1 year warranty. I have to replace them twice since.
I'm going to take them the receipt and see if they will pay for it....probably not, but worth a try

Titleist71 03-15-2004 04:33 PM

they should replace the struts too.

astropunk 03-15-2004 04:46 PM

does anyone else have problems with their struts? cause mine make noises over small bumps...

and sometimes when i make left/right turns, i hear a click sound.. not sure if it's the uv joint or what..

also!! anyone else's fan making high pitched chirp sounds?

6ft5inAllMan 03-15-2004 05:01 PM

Whats wrong with the struts, because mine squeak like a MF

4drcivic2k1 03-15-2004 05:42 PM

this is nice to hear. my car blows a headlight bulb about every other month and seeing as how its driven 80% at night it gets gay real fast.

mlovela 03-15-2004 05:55 PM

I had the problem with my passenger side headlight fogged up took it to Honda for a complete replacement, also had my loose and rocking drivers seat fixed all under warrenty.

No problems with blown lightbulbs knock on wood.

Speaking of struts, my steering wheel shakes like a mofo just drivin' straight.

I might need my wheels balanced, to lazy to do it.
:please:

pheaton 03-15-2004 08:53 PM

lol. . stay on topic guys. .

I'm tired of replacing my bulbs too. They seem to burn out every few months and it's getting annoying. Is Honda going to mail out a recall card or do we just have to call them up?

chicohonda02 03-15-2004 09:20 PM

Since I wrapped E-Tape around my headlight wiring my shit has been Cool. Crossing fingers. But i'll call up honda too, to be safe, or check online with the online account. Thanks guys.

My aftermarket headlight's caused a short I put the stock one's back on, took it to the dealer and it ended up being a blown fuse!

HondaLuver 03-15-2004 11:03 PM

my tyc's are fine

Whelan 03-15-2004 11:49 PM

they said the problem was acknowledged and officially started to be cleared on march 2nd so they said they are sending out the cards, but I am calling tomorrow and seeing if I have to put my stock headlamps on first.

Concerned about safety? So is Honda. That's why Owner Link provides up-to-date recall information about your vehicle. Because Owner Link recall listings are based on your Honda's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), they are specific to your vehicle.

There are no current safety recalls for your 2003 Honda Civic.

If you experience problems or you have further questions, contact your dealer for assistance.

I actually just had the same problem last night, my drivers side bulb went out... the bulbs were only about 8 months old...

dezod 03-16-2004 11:40 AM

I had a problem with the stalk that comes off the steering column. The relay in there went, which triggers the current to power up your headlights. I posted about this sometime ago. The dealership fixed mine under warranty. A couple of other members posted about this too...

JCap 03-16-2004 11:50 AM

The strut problem is acknowledged by Honda. My car is currently in the shop right now and they are switching out my original struts for new ones. My dealership said that Honda extended the suspension warranty to 5yr/100,000 kms because of this problem. It's a good thing I found out last weekend cause I was at 99,545 kms at the time! I was bouncing around like a mofo with my blown struts..... making noises, popping sounds..... look up TSB# 03039.

I'm going to call Honda and ask them about the headlight recall seeing as they already have my car in the shop.

injencivic 03-16-2004 01:18 PM

so are they gonna recall the struts as well?

acidbaby 03-16-2004 02:01 PM

there is no headlight recall :-bs:

JCap 03-16-2004 04:26 PM

I called my honda dealer and asked them about the recall. They said that it was for American civics only.... which I don't understand, cause I thought that all civics were built in Ontario, Canada......

cosmo 03-16-2004 04:30 PM

It has to do with the day time running lights: they don't have them, we do. Don't know how that'd effect anything but thats what my uncle (technition) told me.

lewal 03-16-2004 04:35 PM

my 02 ex doesn't have day time running lights...

jackscivic 03-16-2004 04:57 PM

CivicsRdBest 03-16-2004 05:29 PM
