OK here it is. Parts - Honda Gas Cap Hanger from 2002 Civic (P/N 74423-SZ3-003) - super sticky 2 sides tape, padded (the back surface area of the hanger is uneven) - scisors http://www.2k1civic.com/old_attachme...phanger1%2EJPG Instructions - cut your padded tape to fit over the back of the hanger as shown - if you use padded tape you don't have to worry about trimming the hanger to sit flat on the door. http://www.2k1civic.com/old_attachme...r%2DDIY1%2EJPG Attachments: gashanger-DIY1.JPG (18 Kb) |

sorry jonavin :):) fingers were itchy... nice job! guess your hands will be nice and warm in your pocket in the winter while ours are falling off holding that cap of ours |
thats pretty sweet....:susp: |
ill keep putting my cap on my trunk..hondas not sucking anymore money out of me :) |
heh. pretty cool. |
Thats a good idea, but how come our cars dont come with some sort of hanger that goes around the cap and the opening of the tank, I dont know if you know what I mean or not, but oh well.:) Crashoveride |
Is that how the 2002's have it attached too? Anyone with a 2002 have a picture of the way this plastic piece is attached? |
Ya, I'm curious to see how the "stock" one comes from the factory. |
I'd like to know how they come attached from the factory also. The one from Hand-A-Accessories actually looks better than this one. |
The stock 2002 one probably has proper mounting on the door. You can always get the whole door... That'll probably be $50+, judging by what other OEM parts costs. |
lol...you're probably right! |
here is the DIY for the one they sell at Handa-accessories. http://www.ptcruiserusa.com/hondasuv/crvix/exteriormenu/gascap/gascap.htm BTW, i thought DIY's were for things that might be tricky. any genius who can't stick something down with tape shouldn't be driving. |
Did you actually read what they wrote on that site about the gas cap holder? << It is an inexpensive addition that any owner can make to enhance the gas filling experience. >> LOL ... I didn't know gas-filling was an "experience" that could be enhanced... |
You're probably right, but people want to see pics anyway. Gives me a chance to make use of my new digicam |
looks cool dude. |
all this trouble for a gas cap? why dontcha just put it on the trunk when fueling.. not like its gonna fly away...:) |
Hehehe... okay so see how the pieces that he attached the tape to... well, those are uneven for a reason, they tuck into metal sleeves on the door... at least i think so... i know mine doesnt use adhesive. and it seems logical |
Of course. The only proper upgrade is to get the whole 2002 gas door. I don't really care as long as it works. Its' acttahced firmly enough that I can yank on the hanger and pull the door. That's good enough since the gas cap isn't that heavy anyways. Yes, all this trouble. Like I said before, I'm $10 annoyed... you may not be as annoyed by the fact that there's no gas cap hanger. If you're $50 annoyed, you can get the whole door. How annoyed are you? |
I dont know man this DYI looks too complicated for me....:susp:j/k |
im 10 dollars annoyed >_< |
nice DIY jonavin. I just put the gas cap in the pump trigger and wait in the car.:) |
Okay, I'll probably get flammed/banned for this but here goes: GEEZAS F*&@ C#*$ST THAT IS THE G@YIST MOST WORTHLESS POS I HAVE EVER SEEN. IF YOU'RE TOO STUPID/LAZY/RETARDED THAT YOU NEED A HOLDER ON THE BACK OF THE GAS TANK LID TO KEEP TRACK OF YOUR GAS CAP YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR KEYS TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There, I feel better, now where's my valum prescription so I can relax |
well 4 those that have BEAT..:)..u can't use the trunk cuz the cap just rattles right off!!..+ u dont wanna put the cap on the hood cuz what faces down is simply where the GAS is ??!!:susp: |
Plus gasoline on car paint is just bad news. |
And what kind of moron puts his gas cap on his trunk or hood??? They too should have their keys taken away. Just put the cap on the gas pump (phillips 66 has big box looking pumps that have the credit card reader built into them). |
