OK here it is.

Parts
- Honda Gas Cap Hanger from 2002 Civic (P/N 74423-SZ3-003)
- super sticky 2 sides tape, padded (the back surface area of the hanger is uneven)
- scisors

http://www.2k1civic.com/old_attachme...phanger1%2EJPG

Instructions
- cut your padded tape to fit over the back of the hanger as shown
- if you use padded tape you don't have to worry about trimming the hanger to sit flat on the door.

Roadrunner2024 10-25-2001 08:06 PM

NeoMagus 10-25-2001 08:36 PM

CapYoda 10-25-2001 08:42 PM

heh. pretty cool.

Crashoveride 10-25-2001 08:46 PM

Thats a good idea, but how come our cars dont come with some sort of hanger that goes around the cap and the opening of the tank, I dont know if you know what I mean or not, but oh well.:)

Is that how the 2002's have it attached too? Anyone with a 2002 have a picture of the way this plastic piece is attached?

Ronin 10-25-2001 09:28 PM

Ya, I'm curious to see how the "stock" one comes from the factory.

SQCivic 10-25-2001 09:44 PM

I'd like to know how they come attached from the factory also. The one from Hand-A-Accessories actually looks better than this one.

jonavin 10-25-2001 10:13 PM

The stock 2002 one probably has proper mounting on the door. You can always get the whole door...

That'll probably be $50+, judging by what other OEM parts costs.

SQCivic 10-25-2001 10:23 PM

lol...you're probably right!

pazzmore 10-25-2001 10:33 PM

here is the DIY for the one they sell at Handa-accessories.

http://www.ptcruiserusa.com/hondasuv/crvix/exteriormenu/gascap/gascap.htm

BTW, i thought DIY's were for things that might be tricky. any genius who can't stick something down with tape shouldn't be driving.

Ronin 10-25-2001 10:43 PM

Did you actually read what they wrote on that site about the gas cap holder?

<< It is an inexpensive addition that any owner can make to enhance the gas filling experience. >>

LOL ... I didn't know gas-filling was an "experience" that could be enhanced...

jonavin 10-25-2001 10:45 PM

You're probably right, but people want to see pics anyway. Gives me a chance to make use of my new digicam

IRace4Fun 10-26-2001 12:53 AM

looks cool dude.

ScottieEX 10-26-2001 12:58 AM

all this trouble for a gas cap? why dontcha just put it on the trunk when fueling.. not like its gonna fly away...:)

brill 10-26-2001 01:37 AM

Hehehe... okay so see how the pieces that he attached the tape to... well, those are uneven for a reason, they tuck into metal sleeves on the door...

at least i think so... i know mine doesnt use adhesive. and it seems logical

jonavin 10-26-2001 12:42 PM

Of course. The only proper upgrade is to get the whole 2002 gas door. I don't really care as long as it works. Its' acttahced firmly enough that I can yank on the hanger and pull the door. That's good enough since the gas cap isn't that heavy anyways.

Yes, all this trouble. Like I said before, I'm $10 annoyed... you may not be as annoyed by the fact that there's no gas cap hanger. If you're $50 annoyed, you can get the whole door.

How annoyed are you?

Elusiv1 10-26-2001 02:44 PM

I dont know man this DYI looks too complicated for me....:susp:j/k

supYO 10-27-2001 10:42 AM

im 10 dollars annoyed >_<

acura2001el 10-27-2001 03:50 PM

nice DIY jonavin. I just put the gas cap in the pump trigger and wait in the car.:)

GabberHead 11-06-2001 04:44 PM

Okay, I'll probably get flammed/banned for this but here goes:

GEEZAS F*&@ C#*$ST THAT IS THE G@YIST MOST WORTHLESS POS I HAVE EVER SEEN. IF YOU'RE TOO STUPID/LAZY/RETARDED THAT YOU NEED A HOLDER ON THE BACK OF THE GAS TANK LID TO KEEP TRACK OF YOUR GAS CAP YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR KEYS TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There, I feel better, now where's my valum prescription so I can relax

the1sthotboy 11-08-2001 07:25 AM

well 4 those that have BEAT..:)..u can't use the trunk cuz the cap just rattles right off!!..+ u dont wanna put the cap on the hood cuz what faces down is simply where the GAS is ??!!:susp:

jonavin 11-11-2001 04:14 PM

Plus gasoline on car paint is just bad news.

GabberHead 11-12-2001 08:25 AM

And what kind of moron puts his gas cap on his trunk or hood??? They too should have their keys taken away. Just put the cap on the gas pump (phillips 66 has big box looking pumps that have the credit card reader built into them).
