blocking off upper grill in winter?

alot of hybrid guys put a blocking plate behind their front upper grill so the engine warms up faster and stays warm in cold weather. i think this is a great idea cause i always have problems with the car taking forever to get warm and i hardly drive more than 15 mins at a time so theres no chance of overheating. and my trans oil cooler is right behind the upper grill so i have slipping gears til the fluid gets hot enough. not to mention, alot of cars dont even have an upper grill. they were using some kind of black foam to put behind the grill, but im not sure how it will stay in place. and bumper would have to come off again. i thought about plastic too...

I just crunk the car on in the morining and leave it running for 10-15 mins and then go.. But it all depends where u stay and how cold is it...
