06 Civic LX fuel problems Anyone have a 2006 Civic LX that's experiencing fuel related problems? I used to get 200 miles to a half tank. I let the oil life get to 5% before I changed it. Now its only getting 130 miles to a half tank. Also the gas gage flipped itself upside down. Can anyone help me out? |
Re: 06 Civic LX fuel problems Welcome to the site. I used to get 200 miles to a half tank. I let the oil life get to 5% before I changed it. Now its only getting 130 miles to a half tank. Changing oil at 5% has nothing to do with it, unless you used the wrong oil. Gas mileage goes down a lot when it gets cold. Tire pressures drop a lot as they get cold, and that sucks a lot of gas. There could be a ton of reasons for poor fuel economy.....50% are the car, the other half is the driver. Also the gas gage flipped itself upside down. |
Re: 06 Civic LX fuel problems check -tires: both psi and for uneven tread which could indicate you need an alignment ( if the car is pulling to one side get an alignment. -air filter -where you using an eco oil before like 0w20, did you change it to basic 5w20? -do you have a bunch of weight in it now like lugging more equipment for work? -have you cleaned the fuel system? -did you switch to larger and heavier wheel/tires? |
Re: 06 Civic LX fuel problems I can't post pics. It won't let me. But I know my car and always fill it at the half mark. And its only getting 130 at half. I don't drive too aggressive either so it can't be the driver. But maybe the change in weather is what is affecting it.

Welcome to the site. That's no way to track gas mileage. That's random and arbitrary. Changing oil at 5% has nothing to do with it, unless you used the wrong oil.
