Change Automatic Transmission Fluid Hi, I live in UAE and sorry for my bad English :) I have a Honda Civic 2009 LX 4 Door and it became 60,000 km so I had to Change Automatic Transmission Fluid for the 1st time. I already bought original Honda ATF-Z1 fluid and opened the Transmission Fluid hole at the bottom of my gearbox and emptied the fluid and then inject 3 bottle of Honda ATF-Z1 from the top of gearbox. Each bottle is exactly 1 Liter so I injected exactly 3 Liters, then I checked the Gauge and it was exactly enough. I want to know if I did this right? And why just 3 Liters? Total capacity is just 3 liters? Thanks everyone :) |
Re: Change Automatic Transmission Fluid because most of the fluid is in the converter and i believe you were suppose to repeat what you did 3 times to completely drain the old fluid. i suggests you buy a manual for your car. |
Re: Change Automatic Transmission Fluid in my manual it's not mentioned I believe! 3 times instantly?between each time what should I do? thx |
Re: Change Automatic Transmission Fluid No, you did it right, but 3 liters is a bit much, should be 3 quarts to fill the transmission up again, I think. At least with a 6th gen. If the dipstick shows it is full then never mind. That is 'replacing your transmission fluid' as far as the manual/maintenance sheet is concerned. Do one drain/fill every 48,000KM per the severe driving schedule and you're golden. Doing it three times (drain/fill, drive for a while, drain/fill, drive for a while, drain/fill, done) is 'flushing' the transmission and is not necessary at all |
Re: Change Automatic Transmission Fluid With the 09 Honda civic there is an external in-line transmission filter. Have you changed that? It can be done, but much easier on a lift. Honda part number for transmission filter: [25430. PLR-003]. Buy a couple extra. As far as where it is: With the car on the lift look way up on the drivers side up past the exhaust pipe. Buy the transmission filter from Honda first then you will know what to look for. Couple of pinch clamps to take off. Good Luck. You won't spill but a drop or two. Good luck. Digger |
Re: Change Automatic Transmission Fluid Best to start the car and shift through gears after that way you get an accurate measure. But you did it correctly, probably wont be that low if any. |
