1999 Honda Civic Clutch problem

I'm having issues with my clutch. The pedal wouldn't come up and I have to pump it for the clutch to engage. Now I can't get it to engage any gears when the engine is running (but the gears engage when engine is turned off). Any ideas on how I can try to fix it without going to a repair shop?

Have you checked you cylinders? You may have a leaky one resulting in lost pressure.
