Honda Civic Clutch Warranty Hey guys, I had bought a brand new Honda Civic LX manual (end of 2009)just 8 months ago from Happy Honda in Vancouver. Unfortunately, the clutch worn out in 10,000 kilometers. Is it normal for Honda Civic car considering I am not an aggressive driver. I called Honda dealer and they said it is not covered under the Honda warranty and cost of replacing is around $1400 including taxes. What my question is would Honda cover me for worn out clutch or do I just have no other choice? Thank you in advance, |
Re: Honda Civic Clutch Warranty I doubt they'll cover it, as they can say it's a normal wear and tear item.. But that is unusually fast for a clutch to wear out. I'd at least ask. |
Re: Honda Civic Clutch Warranty That is sad. The reason I bought a brand new car especially Honda is so that I don't have to worry about any major fixing for long time. My question is how would I be assure that the clutch wasn't slightly worn out before I bought the car? Personally, I would never buy a car from Happy Honda and would not recommend anyone to buy it from Happy Honda. Service is bad |
Re: Honda Civic Clutch Warranty happy honda makes you very unhappy. i have 130k miles on my car has the clutch is still good *knock on wood* is ur clutch slipping? |
Re: Honda Civic Clutch Warranty @ xRiCeBoYx - yes that is what the dealer says that is a normal wear and tear item therefore, it is not covered under warranty.. @ sl33pyriceboi - yes it is slipping. When on gear and giving gas the car doesn't run to its optimum speed. |
Re: Honda Civic Clutch Warranty I don't understand how a clutch could go that early. My clutch has 135k on it *knock on wood as well* and it is my first standard. Is it slipping in high gear(revs shooting up with no speed)? Drive in 3rd at a low speed and floor the throttle. I mean you already said it's slipping, but those 2 things would pretty much verify it from what I've heard. |
Re: Honda Civic Clutch Warranty Happy Honda doesn't have a great reputation, Carter Honda has always been good to me though. Contact Evo Garage in Richmond, they specialize in Honda/Acura and have a great reputation. http://www.evogarage.com/service/service.html |
Re: Honda Civic Clutch Warranty @ MelJ - First it was slipping in high gear (gear 3 and 4). Then it started slipping in 2nd gear and 1 gear within 30minutes of driving.. At first I thought it was the footwear I was wearing and I was probably not giving enough gas but later I found it was the car that was stalling. |
Re: Honda Civic Clutch Warranty Damn :( . Best of luck. Hope everything works out. |
Re: Honda Civic Clutch Warranty did happy honda tell you it was ur clutch? |
Re: Honda Civic Clutch Warranty If it was used it was most likely the driver who owned it before not knowing how to drive a manual. Honda definitely wont cover it, since its driver error, unless they find a manufacturing default (well, atleast admit there was a manufacturing default). If you are really mechanically inclined you can do a clutch, if not, I suggest buying an exedy oem clutch (theyre like $120) and taking it to a good shop to do it. It sucks when stuff like this happens. How many miles have you put on it yourself? how many miles are on the car? |
Re: Honda Civic Clutch Warranty @ sl33pyriceboi - it is the clutch and flywheel. @ 02_d17a1_dx - when i bought this car there was 300 kilometer (186miles) on it and it is now 10,000 km (6200 miles) on it |

Maybe after some hard use the glaze would come off. If not then youll have to resurface the flywheel and replace the clutch anyway. |
Re: Honda Civic Clutch Warranty You would have to be driving your car like a maniac for 10000kms to burn out a clutch. Either that or you constantly rest your left foot on it. I just bought a 99 Civic that was sold at Happy Honda 11 years ago. It has 165 000 Km on it and original clutch. |
Re: Honda Civic Clutch Warranty Piazza Honda of Springfield American Honda Motor Company, Inc. Very disappointed and devastated that Piazza Honda & American Honda will call a lemon clutch a wear & tear item on a 2019 Honda Civic Si with 21,000 miles. Where is the wear or tear? The car is 2 years old, I drive back & forth to my law enforcement job, and roll with baby seat in the back. This isn't the fast & the furious street racing. I've never replaced a clutch under 150,000 miles and they should be ashamed for trying to not cover this. The car came with a shotty clutch, and it should be covered. Piazza Honda & American Honda should be ashamed for their lousy business practices. |
