what would you recommend, Petron XCS with 95 octane or Shell V-power and Shell super unleaded E10 (10% ethanol) for my automatic transmission honda civic vtec 1998?

Everything with 91 octane and higher is good.Don't spend money on expensive full, don't have point on regular or middle tuned engine.

Civics before 2006 only need regular unleaded. My car is a 2005 soch Vtec and rated for regular. Better fuel is basically a waste unless you have a turbo.

I run regular 87 and when it's really hot in the summer I run 89 bc it knocks sometimes and I can feel the ecu retarding the timing.

87 will do just fine for any civic.
