2007 Civix EX Oil Change Questions Hello, I have a 2007 Honda Civic EX that I bought used several months ago and its at 36,000 miles. Couple of days ago the maintenance ranch on the dashboard came on, indicating the need for oil change with. It show the ranch, then an capital A and the remaining Oil Life. I was speaking with my colleague who has a 2008 CRV and he told me that he paid $85 ~ $90 for an oil change when he took his CRV to the dealership. I bought the civic with low cost of maintenance in mind, but $85 ~ $90 sounds outrageous. Should I take it to the dealership? Please feel free to share your thought/recommendations. Thanks |
Re: 2007 Civix EX Oil Change Questions Don't take it the dealership. Just go to a local shop. It should be around 15 to 20. If u want buy ur own oil and oil filter and they will probably knock of a few dollars. And reset the light is really simple. After the oil change is done. Turn the car to on. Not start. Then push mileage button. To the oil life percentage. Press and hold till it blinks and release and press and hold again till the life said 100 percent. And its reset=) hope this helps |
Re: 2007 Civix EX Oil Change Questions Do it yourself, its so easy :) |
Re: 2007 Civix EX Oil Change Questions Wow. I've had my oil changed by the dealer and it was somewhere around $30, give or take a few. But the r18 is real easy to change the oil. Its got a filter thats vertical so you don't wear all the oil, like I always seem to when I change the oil on my or my girlfriend's car. |

Thanks I would say find another oil change shop. Just NOT Jiffy-lube. They are total morons most of the time. |
Re: 2007 Civix EX Oil Change Questions just learn yourself. its such an easy thing to do yet so many places mess it up. its not worth risking your engine to some monkeys who either forget to add oil, tighten the drain plug too much, tighten filter too much, overfill the oil, reuse the old filter, reuse the old oil, and many other things i cant think of. |
Re: 2007 Civix EX Oil Change Questions Damn reuse the old oil? What the hell man people are really that ****ing shady? |

Re: 2007 Civix EX Oil Change Questions there was a honda dealer that would just take your car, drive it around the block a few times, then come back and say the oil was changed lol. you never know what $10-12 per hour techs will do to a stranger's car depending on their mood. |
