ventilation - NEED HELP ASP 2 Attachment(s) Hi Last night I opened the dashboard to get to the headunit, by mistake my phone somehow went inside the ventilation hole, the once at the front of the car in the middle. I tried to put my hand through but the hole was too small and tight. Is there a way to get to the phone?? I tried everything but nothing worked. NEED HELP ASAP, because I am scared that the phone might explode inside the ventilation because hot air comes from there. Thanks in advanced |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP It won't explode, but you're going to have to pull the dash off to get to the climate control unit to get it out though. |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP I did remove the dash panel, thats how it got in there in the first place, lolls. After removing the dash panel, whats next?? |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP hmm I wonder if it could burst..those temps can get up to like 160* F or more |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP why does everyone think that all electronic devices explode when exposed to heat? it's a phone, not a IED. you should be able to remove the blower motor from behind the glove box and that should give you access to the vents. Otherwise speedfoos is right, you're going to have to pull the rest of the dash out to get the vents all out. I think you misunderstood his post, obviously you took the dash trim out, he's talking about the entire dashboard. |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP Yep. The whole ass. Not just half of it. |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP lol I dont think it will explode haha..but the battery could burst from the high heat.. which may not be too good |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP forget it its gone lol. just get a new phone and move on. you might try to reach from the bottom middle section where the console ends, maybe it fell straight down and you got lucky. |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP Thanks everyone for the replies, i will try to check underneath where the console ends, and see if it fell out. I did not reliease that there is a gap at the end of the console. Otherwise i will try to remove the whole dashboard panel. Thanks everyone, keep the ideas coming though... |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP I sure as hell wouldn’t leave it. Some of you guys should read more on LiPo battery failures. Even though the ones on phones have safety circuits I wouldn’t want it getting that hot. I run LiPos in my RC cars and have had a one go up in flames along with the (rc) car it was in. |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP Ive had an RC go up in flames with a NiCD. the heat in a cars ventilation system wouldnt reach the temp required to ignite a LiPo. |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP LOL either way I wouldnt want it in there... |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP make sure u have video running so when it explodes u catch it on camera. LULS... |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP RJ you're a ****ing idiot. Go play in traffic. |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP Lol... |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP i once left my old gameboy in the car all day where the temps were over 150F in the car. when i saw it the screen was a different color lol. but everything worked fine once it cooled down. just try not to use the heater that much with the phone in there. |

Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP I dont know cpus are made to take high heat, batteries are not.. I wouldnt speculate about this personally.. I would rip my dash apart to get at it. |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP lithium ion batteries only catch fire from overcharging or manufacturer defects. Those were with older laptop batteries not cell phone batteries which tend to be more advance then there laptop counter parts. http://computer.howstuffworks.com/dell-battery-fire.htm i think your over exaggerating the danger. In 5 days the phone will probably be compelety out of charge anyways. |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP think about it...if lithium ion batteries can catch on fire or explode that easily...you would be able to blow up tesla's with a $10 heat gun....that can go up to 500 degrees F...:rofl: |
Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP My friends Li-ion cell phone battery lit his whole rooms carpet on fire....but i assume stabbing the battery with a knife didn't help the carpet not ignite. |

Re: ventilation - NEED HELP ASP does the bottom section have tubes that go down beneath the front seats to blow air to the rear seats? are you able to shine a light down there and see the phone at all? |
