2005 HCH O2 Sensor

My 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid engine light came on and apparently 2 O2 sensors failed and need to be replaced. My car has 42,500 miles of daily suburban driving with some distance hwy and is off warrenty. Is this normal? I would prefer not going to the dealership as I trust my garage but this does seem wrong. Is this normal for HCH? Normal for the 2005 model? Thx!

ur 02 sensor should last you atleast 60k...mine lasted untill 100+ before i replaced mine.

go to http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and order a new 02 sensor and you can replace it. its simple take out and plug in type of thing

or you can go to your local AUTOZONE and have them order it for you. they dont charge shipping. if you get it throught autozone, reference it from their online website.

an O2 sensor can go bad anytime...ive had cars come in at 10K with bad O2 sensors. if you get the code let me know and ill tell you which one it is...

mine went at 60k, i got the bosch oem one from advance. its actually the same NTK sensor as stock uses, if you open the box and read the engraving.

I'm at about 80k and still havent had any issues, even after an exhaust swap. Truthfully i'm probably past 80k now.. more like 90k now that I think about (cluster swap- need to math the numbers on date of swap to know forsure)

After I pick up a race header I'm sure I'll speed up their dooms day.

Can you tell from engine codes if 1, 2, or all 3 sensors need to be replaced?

I took my 05 hybrid to the mechanic (after looking at the codes briefly seeing that it seemed to be an oxygen sensor) and he said that he couldn't tell which one went bad so that I should replace all three - at a cost of about $1000 plus labor.

I found the bosh one for the upper emission sensor, for around $67 (but he quoted 480.17) and the Honda parts site linked above for part 06365-PZA-A00 was about $100 less. Is there a big difference in these parts?

lol the engine light code should tell you which one is bad (like primary, secondary, etc). also remember the hybrid uses special sensors and i would prolly stick with the honda oem parts on that one. usually if there is a big price difference like $50 and $500, you are looking at two completely different sensors that are not compatible (narrowband is the cheap one, wideband is expensive). check www.hondaautomotiveparts.com as they usually have better prices on honda parts.
