100,000 Mile Service I don't have the Honda manual. What do they recommend for the 100,000 mile service? |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service i compiled this off majestic honda. how much is good and how much is BS? Engine oil and filter - replace Fluid levels - top off all Lube hinges, locks, latches, and hood cable Front / Rear brakes - visual inspection Transmission fluid - drain & refill Clutch - adjust if applicable Battery posts - inspect & clean Fuel lines, tank, lines & connections - inspect Suspension mounting bolts - inspect Tires - balance rear tires and rotate to front; adjust pressure & inspect tire wear pattern Coolant system - Check level & test protection Wiper blades - check operation & wear Park brake - adjust & lube as needed Front/Rear disc calipers & hoses Air filter - inspect Exhaust system - inspect Power steering system, gearbox, and axle boots - inspect Adjust valve clearance if applicable Spark plugs - replace (except platinum plugs) Front/Rear disc calipers & hoses Suspension, struts & steering - inspect Brake Fluid - replace and bleed system Distributor cap & rotor - inspect 15,000/45,000/105,000 - additional cost for cooling system service Engine timing belt and accessory belts |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service "Air filter - inspect" huh... I would personally say you should be replacing it, not just inspecting it. and much more often than every 100,000 miles. It would be very dirty by then... Having a clean air filter helps your gas mileage too. |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service i need to have my serviced since i rolled over 100k. They quoted me around $800 to change the belts, plugs and tune up! |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service hmmm...well I'm no mechanic but that sounds terribly expensive =\ was this at a Honda dealership? |

Re: 100,000 Mile Service i'm not worried about the cost as i plan to do it all myself. i'm just wondering what the Honda Manual says. |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service lmao, i will search for their maint stuff. i think the only thing that actually counts is the timing belt change. everything else is as you need it. so if you already changed your fluids earlier, no need to do it again. |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service Well half the stuff on our cars is so easy to do. The auto tranny, coolant, and plugs. As for the belts I had the mom and pop shop I go to do it and it was like $330 total. That was timing, and accessories belts. |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service mines a manual. |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service plugs timing belt PS belt if you have it maybe a water pump Fluids (if you haven't done it) Adjust valves (if you haven't done it) That's about it. This is just off the top of my head though. |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service change lower arm bushings if you have chance....mine made sound when going over rough surface...it's at 108K now...do civic's need valve adjustment? I thought it didn't....correct me if i am wrong BTW April is Honda care day, so you can get 40 point inspection free...so get your car checked and don't do anything they say.... |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service what's involved with adjusting the valves? |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service feeler gauge, removing the valve cover, a new cover gasket, and the service book for the tolerances. |

Re: 100,000 Mile Service should be in haynes i think, its engine related. get tokico shocks for sure, oem is a joke. even for stock spring it will be good. get the ES control arm bushings so they can do em while the susp is taken off. |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service go with tokico shocks.....that's what I have on mine with stock springs...it rides much better with 17 inch wheels... bushings can be either stock or ES bushings ....IMO I like the softness of OEM and I don't do any autoX so I got OEM bushings.... |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service 100,000 miles? Honda would like if you replaced your spark plugs with nails. Then promptly purchase a new car. All seriousness though, do the tune up the guys were recommending above. Replace those coolant and heater hoses if you haven't already. My car has 82k and those hoses are in bad shape. I need to replace them pronto. |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service my hoses look fine. |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service Are the hoses original? I have a hard time believing they are fine. Especially after seeing mine. Don't just look give them a squeeze, look for cracks, mushy spots, etc. Here is what mine looks like: :_puke: http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a7/...08/BadHose.jpg |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service Man I just did my timing belt, power steering belt, alternator belt, water pump, head gasket, replaced the head studs, plugs, coolant. took 3 days for all of this and about 500 bucks later she is running better than ever. I do recommend after 100k U do all of this. |

Re: 100,000 Mile Service What's up well i have a question real quick i would like to know when do you have to replce all your belts i have a 02civic and have not done none of the belts i have 95000 miles on it |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service the timing belt is every 110K normally. the accessory belts are whenever they look bad or start to squeak, could be every 50k, sometimes longer. if they look fine, dont bother. timing belt i would do every 100k roughly, for peace of mind since you cant really see the belt under the hood. also change the water pump and belt tensioner (and crank pulley if you have extra money) when you have the belt changed. they are all very easy to do since you have everything pulled apart anyway. better safe than sorry later if they break. |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service looking at my civic service schedule from my stealership it sez replace all belts at 110,000miles (timing, all drive belts) |
Re: 100,000 Mile Service at 100k i know that you should replace your timing belt and water pump... both are lifeblood of a honda. |
