Type of grease for door hinges? Alot of parts on my car, including the door hinges, trunk hinges etc need to be greased. What type of stuff does honda use to grease them? I'm looking to get some. |
You can use white grease. Or lethium grease. |
Ok. What is the original stuff that is used? Just white grease? It has to be something that repels water. |

^^^^Good stuff right there. The door on my dad's dakota kept sticking and to open it the whole way it felt like you were bending the hinge. Put some of that stuff on there and worked it in...smooth as butter. |
I also work at Honda. Some guys use white lithium grease as mentioned abve. Recently though, alot of guys have gone to using silicon spray lube, it just keeps things a little cleaner and doesnt leave white residue on the hinges, etc like the lithium. Hope this helps. |
Right on, Thanks guys. I think im going to go and get a can of the Silicon spray lube. |
ther ya go... |
I use white lithium. Shoot it wherever, its good stuff. Yeah it could be a little messy, but its greese, just wipe up any over spray. Let me know how that other stuff works out if thats what you end up picking up. |
They sell white lithium grease in garage door section and auto section of hardware stores. Look in both sections its cheaper in one of the two but I dont remember which, at least thats how it is at the one I visit. |
