Can we use s2000 oil filters on 7thgens? Hey guys, My brother was telling me that a bunch of guys with accords are using s2000 oil filters on their cars (my bro uses one too, even tho honda said it wouldnt fit, it does fit and it is supposedly better) Im just wondering if S2000 oil filters will fit on 7thgens (i have a 2003 canadian Si, which is an 2003 American EX if that makes a difference) If someone could kindly let me know, Id appreciate it (and rep+1 for you!) Thanks! |
why? why would you want to do that? I dont get it. Im gona guess no tho! |
k...its a yes and no answer bro...yes itll fit...but if you look at the filters..the s2000 filter is slightly bigger..(lil fatter)..unlike the filter for the 7th gen...yea it does fit..ive tried it before...and have seen it before...itll work..idk if its better lol... if its an older honda..99 back..they all basically used the same filter... |
Uh I thought we still use all the same filter? When I go to the dealer sometimes to pick up an OEM filter, they just sit in a bucket, without any descriptions for diff types of vehicles. |
most of them do...but theres a couple that dont..for example..s2000.. |
I was told it would work on a 7thgen by a buddy in Honda Parts department, and currently using one right now. |
I think it has something to do with the higher oil pressure or flow rate the S2k prolly makes at 9k rpm hehe. Maybe its larger to cycle more oil to keep the pump from being overworked. IDK my buddy has an s2k and we were just talking about this last week. I think Im gunna get two filters and chop em up to see whats what. |
You can use used s2000 filters for better results. |
now why would a used s200 filter work better than a new one? |

LOL. Nice. One would wish..Lol |
LoL, I think he means to cut up, use a used one instead of the new one. |
o ok, i got ya know, sorry guys, i was confused on why a used oil filter is better. |
Dont use a used s200 filter(try to find one anyways). Honda engineers wouldn't just randomly not use the s2000 filter. The guys who get paid to think about these things decided it would be best to go with a civic filter. If it was a positive Honda would push us to buy it at a higher price. |
i thought i seen all the stupid things people do and want to do with their civic.... but questions like these makes me think otherwise. |

^Bragging right?? Are you high?? "Hi, I spent more money on a filter not even designed to work with my car, that certainly won't help my engine, and may screw it up." Doesn't sound like bragging to me, more like an admission of chronic stupidity. |
heheh...this thread is awesome... IBTL |
By braggin right I mean ya I got a s2000 filter in my civic. Ya something like that. feel me? |
so i should bolt an sti wing to my trunk and be like "ya, i got an sti wing on my civic"???? I guess i'm missing something. |
OMG u just gave an idea to like 30,000 people. Nice one ******* now ur gonna c civics with sti wings. smooth. LOL JK man ya i dunno just drop the whole conversation we had :) |
i'm just making you think. not hating. |
Isnt the s2000 a little better than the regular one? Like more flow or something? They originally cost a bit more, but now its the same price as the regular ones. |
HEY.. ^^^ THATS WHAT I WAS SAYIN..KOOL..IM NOT THE ONLY ONE. Lol |
I ve been using them for a long time now on my 01" I have 5 at home righy now there OEM. |
yea i knew they fit...and worked...but didnt know if the design on the inside was different. ya know? for the flow? |
