100K Oil Change

I just hit 100K over the weekend, and I was planning on getting the oil changed this week, but I'm wondering what would be the best oil (brand/weight) for the job?

Valvoline Max Life, 5w20 or 5w30.

5 wt% moly (highest of the common oils)
22 wt% synthetic

Best oil around for the price. Since you have a few more miles on your car, your engine rings and all that are nicely broke in, you can go to a little heavier oil in the warm temp region, so 5w30 would be fine. 5w20 still isn't a bad choice, keep in mind that if you do a lot of highway driving (which I guess you do since you have 100k already) 5w20 will give slightly better MPG than 5w30, we're talking maybe 0.5-1 highway MPG better.

do they sell valvoline max liife '5w20' at places like pepboys, autozone, or kragens too? I see 5-30's but haven't checked for 5w20 maxlives yet.

Not sure, I thought I saw 5w20 at Wal-Mart though, I could be wrong though.

I'll have to grab some max-life this weekend, thanks Jrfish007.

your original post makes it sound like you haven't changed the oil yet.

yeah, I want some of that 100k oil, must be really pricey.

Does it increase your hp by like 300hp as well? That would be awesome if it did.

I'll be at 103K by the end of next week, Lots of gas and lots of miles, but still runs like a champ.

Whatever you've been using to get you to 100,000 miles will get you to 200,000 miles, don't change a thing. Assuming you change your oil regularly of course.
