lc20 oil treatment review I haven't been this impressed since I started using fp60. So far I used lc20 in my oil for the last month of the previous oil change. I plan on getting a change soon and adding more lc20 for around 6 mos/7k miles. Well in only a month, the results are amazing. Throttle response from a stop is greatly improved, and even in hot weather the car picks up well (for an auto). Second, the engine is REALLY quiet even with my intake at cruising speeds. I was on the freeway at 65 and could not hear anything. Also very smooth sounding during acceleration, better than when I first bought the car. Now the most impressive part was when I started cruising at 65, then pressed the gas a little in gear. It felt like the car wanted to keep going faster and faster and actually got to 85 fairly quickly and still wanted more. Also at 85 the engine was quiet. Feels kinda cool, not even like a civic anymore cause before it used to struggle and I had to give much more gas. Overall LCD does it again. I will be buying more lc20 when the small one runs out and I already have 1.5 gallons fp60. Will be using for as long as I have the car. Very very impressed. |
I agree I use it inmy GS-R with 130k miles, makes it run much better. Now I just need to get the rest of the body to work that well :( |
Well I think after hearing you rave on about this stuff, once I get some money I will definetly buy some of the FP60 and LC20. I have tried alot of other stuff from walmart, autozone, etc... and nothing really yeilds any results. It is about time I start finding something to clean out the deposits I have collected over the years. |
ya that store junk does nothing! even techron |
FWIW that resident tribologist on s2ki also very much likes the lubecontrol lineup. |

He like Red Line fuel cleaner too (at least if I remember correctly) :) I think I'll probably use it in the '06, becuase after I get my fiance another car in 4-5 years, the '06 becomes mine, so it needs to last a while. |
i wouldn't use the lc20 in a newer car the first 20k. Supposedly thats the real brake in period for newer engines so better safe than sorry. |
hmm ... so this stuff actually ... works!? |
I think so... I noticed a large jump in MPG when I used both. I will be using it in my '06 civic during the breakin for sure. |
i thought it says do not use for breakin? |
Originally Posted by gearbox i thought it says do not use for breakin? I see at as there are two breakins, an intial and a long term. The intial is done with in the first few miles, this is where the ring landings and all that get broke in. Then there is a long term break in where the rest of the compents get broke in, IMO this finishs around 15k or so. |
it says not to use it for first 1k though. I personally wouldn't use it for at least 20k. Newer engines don't fully break in until that time. Better safe than sorry. But I'm sure you know more than I do... okay saw your edit  |
Is that same warning on the FP60? |
no. and it looks like their dosages changed. I think it should be lc20 first time use: 2oz per quart fp60 2oz per 5 gallons lc20 normal use: 1 oz per quart initial, then 1oz every 1k miles. fp60 normal use: 1 oz per 5 gallons |
I got my gallon on the 25 and it says 1 oz per 5 gallons like ya said gear....then it says for 'neglected' engines do a shock of 3 oz per 5 gallons...neglected hehe either means never used fp60 or the more probable answer those who have never had fuel system work... |
Well after using fp60 and lc20 for a month, my city gas mileage is back up to a normal 26 instead of usual 20!! woo! |
For neglacted systems it says 3 oz. per full tank, not 5 gallons. Hey Gearbox, I'm getting this random CEL on and off latley and it seem it's when ever theres FP60 in the tank. Every once in a while I run like $5 of gas without it just so I don't make the mix too strong. What do you think? Last time I checked the light it was for o2 sensor, but like I said it's on and off, do they store and come on every so often? |
I usually make sure there is excess fp60 in my gas. Doesn't hurt. If its the 02 sensor, it may be triggering a cel depending on the temp. I would still get it replaced. But yea the cel doesn't always stay on for that. I'm gonna be making a trip to chicago and back tomorrow so we'll see if I can beat the last record of 42 mpg all highway. |
Does anyone know whether LC20 will provide any benefit over synthetic oil? |
it dissolves carbon, I don't think synthetic has that ability. It seems like the lc20 gives regular oil alot of synthetic properties like 10k changes, better lubrication, etc in addition to cleaning the engine. Using lc20 and fp60, my city mpg went from 20 to 26 after a month./ |
A good synthetic oil will break carbon up too. The big difference is that you add the LC20 every 1000 miles. This allows the addative that normally break up in synthetic oils to be replaced, so you can go alot longer than normal because the addative are always present. Works great with MaxLife oil, I reccomended that oil to everyone. |
what about that oil in the commercial that says it adds hp? |
I will say that since using FP60 my milage has increased to around 32 mpg. That some high way, some city and some redlinging 3 gears in a row. Ha ha. |

Originally Posted by robbclark1 Does anyone know whether LC20 will provide any benefit over synthetic oil? I don't think I directly answer your question, yes it does have benifts over any oil in that the addatives are being put in every 1000 miles, where as most other addative burn out between 3k-5k miles. The only real advantage to synthetic oil is the extended drain interval, and if you combine a full synthetic with LC20, you should easily go 10,000 miles per oil change. Your oil filter is a different story, you may want to replace that after 5,000 miles. |

ya i'm only going 5k now because of filter |

My truck went from 18 to 21 MPG using FP60... 21 MPG is pretty good for a 6,200 lb 4x4 with a large V8 and a 4.10 rear end IMO. |
:bump: This is for the new people on here.....:bump: |
lol its great in the tranny too! |
