i put 3 1/2 - 4 quarts in my car.

stl01civic 06-07-2005 11:41 AM

4.6 quart. Too much, this isn't a V6.

I just put 4 quart.

04civicdx 06-07-2005 11:46 AM

3.5 Qt

AzNTiG3R 06-07-2005 11:47 AM

According to the manual, 3.6 for EX and 3.4 for LX and DX. Hope this helps.

I put about 4.5. But I am turbod, and have extra lines and parts for oil to flow through. Stock is between 3.5-4.

4 quarts always worked good before i was turbod. it went right to the twist in the dipstick where it should be.

Thanks everyone except for the smartasses we have here

03 ex auto.
manual says: 3.7 qt and thats if its FULLY drained meaning to the point where the motor is flushed cleaned.

when i change my oil and oil filter, its about 3.5 or 3.6 in most cases.

remember, its always better to fill less cause if you overfill, you would have to remove the oil filter to take out the overfill amounts. so fill around 3.3 quarts and keep checking the dipstick. and the engine would suffer if you just turn it on for awhile while theres only 3.x quarts in there. just a tip :_beer:

Why would you have to take off the filter? Just take out the drain plug. And I usually put 4 in. .3 qt is not going to affect it that much for me to justify having a small amount in a bottle sitting on a shelf.

blouisgod 06-07-2005 06:17 PM

yah 3.7 when fully emptied.

DIY Manual Transmission Fluid change. I think its about 1.6 or 1.7 quarts.

Silver02EX 06-11-2005 11:53 AM

I usually fill up with about 3 1/2... Start the engine, let the filter fill up and then shut the car off, check the level again, put whatever it needs to reach the full mark.

mclean987 06-11-2005 05:55 PM

no its alot mroe they say to fill it until it overflows it has to be atleast 2.3 quarts-2.5qts.

my engine takes like 4.5, i think

nick95673 06-17-2005 02:41 PM

no if you go to a honda dealership and you ask for more than 2 quarts of manual tranny fluid for a 7th gen they will simply ask if you plan on spilling a qt.

MajinB 06-18-2005 02:14 AM

3.7 quarts of 5-20 oil. 1.6 of HONDA MTF. nothin less. maybe 1 quart extra just in case something happends.

mclean987 06-19-2005 08:32 PM

1.6 thats all in the tranny ? did that come from the manual? i put like 2.5-3

MajinB 06-19-2005 10:15 PM

yeah thats from the manual. don't drown your tranny. btw its for a dtick tranny not auto. i have no clue about autos. does your car still run after putting in 2.5/3? cause if its a stick it shoudln't run. if its an auto it shouldn't run either.

Wrong. I did mine last year and it was less then 2 qts. I just helped my neighbor do his 2 weeks ago and it was slightly less then 2 qts. He bought 2 qts of Honda MTF and some was left over. It even overflowed slightly.

I'll checked the Honda Service Manual once I get home, but I am 100% sure its somewhere around 1.7 quarts.

orso 06-20-2005 10:59 AM

well i put 3.7 qts. drain put in 3 1/2 then slowly our the rest put the cap on crank car let run for a minute then check for leaks and dipstick for right amount of oil. it should be right at the top hole on the dipstick. 3.7 if you are changing the oil filter at the same time. maybe like 3.5 without oil filter change, but i change the filter every time.

MajinB 06-20-2005 11:09 AM

i put clean oil in the new filter. like 1/4 full of new oil in the filter that way the motor doesn't start up dry. well not all dry but you guys know what i mean. anyway it helps.
