coolant change instructions and reminder just a friendly reminder, change youre damn coolant. its so easy to do, takes like five minuets. dont even have to jack the car up. drain on the bottom of the radiator in front of the driver. Open it up and open the cap, with the engine cold of course. let it drain into a catch pan or something. while thats draining change your cabin air filter, its probably gross as hell, instructions are in your owners manual, you need two filters and they are cheap you can even get them at napa if you dont like your dealer. I would recommend sticking with honda coolant, nothing else is better. Once the radiator is drained (it takes a few minuets) close the drain and fill from the top. It takes less then one gallon, once it gets full leave the cap off and start the car, let it run for about 30 secconds and top it off. put the cap back on, take the old coolant to an auto zone or something to get it recycled, and youre done. max time including getting stuff and gatting rid of the coolant, 1 hour. have fun |
What about coolant in engine block? No need to drain it? |

benificial but not really necesary, you should be doing a radiator drain every two years tops anyway so getting most of it out (around 80%) is plenty good. youre doing the same thing with oil when you change that |
Re: coolant change instructions and reminder Manual says to replace coolant every 120,000 miles (192,000kms) or 10 years, then every 60,000 miles (96,000 km) or 5 years. Why are you changing it so often? I assume you are using Honda type II coolant which is premixed. Used to be green now blue in color. The engine block drain bolt is tight like a bitch. Can I only drain the radiator and refill without draining the engine block? |
