Thanks mostly to my stupid move to STX, I can run 8" wheels. So what the hell, why not give it a shot. I've been working on the details behind this, I know I can get them under there.... the question is where's it going to rub. Tirerack, the beautiful individuals they are, can make custom wheels. So they're drilling me a custom set of Koseis hubcentric to the car.

Overlayed on the footprint of my current 15x6.5s, the 8s look enormous.
With a +22 offset, its an extra 1.375" hanging out.
With a +32 its an extra 1", with about 1/2 an inch sticking further in, further, its only .3" further in than my 17x7s. I'm almost convinced I can fit these things in there.

I think a +32 will fit. I may have to raise the car up, but a +5mm spacer isn't out of the question either. I need to talk to Tire Rack again about this. For tire sizes I think I'm gonna use 16's.... Hankook makes 225/45/16s whereas the only way at the moment to get a 225/XX/15 is with an R compound.

Excellent! I think you might have a good shot in STX, wider variety of cars, no "recipe" cars, most (all?) suffering from macstruts, and probably much higher weights. If GRM can make some headway with their SE-R in STX I think you can too.

Somewhere on a mini forum (similar stock offsets and fit as far as I can tell)they were talking about 15x8 w/28 offset for DSP. I think your 32 is a good bet, can always add a spacer. The 22 seems like a real fender problem, and lots of scrub radius change.

I've looked at too many options for next year, including an EX trans swap (my hx has ridiculous ratios for autocross but the lack of power probably helped me to focus on driving better this year) and r compounds for DSP. I wouldn't stand a chance but it would make the car a better DD and I'd learn how to drive r's and have some fun until I get into a dedicated car later on. Or just stay in STS, get some better shocks and focus on driving skills for another year...I must admit it is pretty fun to beat faster cars with such a slow pig! And it's a great excuse when my driving sucks...

Just for reference...I've seen a Falken 205/50-15 shoehorned on to an 8" wheel (BMW E30 M3) for an STX car. Fit fine.

And an oddball if you like to take chances, Falken FK451 225/35/17 shaved, 23" and change tall. Good enough to win STX nats on a WRX previously, but a bit more rim weight to deal with. I'd give it a shot if I had some 17's laying around.

The problem that came up is that 15x8s don't clear the A-arm in the back, a couple guys on H-T figured that out with an EP3. 15x7.5s don't exist for less than $300 a pop.
16x8s on the other hand, do fit. The extra inch is enough to clear it and Hawk actually has a set.

215/45/16 is the plan, unless it really looks like I can get 225/45/16s on there.
another possibility is 225/45 on the front, 205/50/16 on the rear (same diameter). The wheels are +38, I'm not above using a 3 or 5mm spacer if I have to to get clearance, just no fender rolling. If it rubs, the car is going up.

225/50/15 is one of the best tire sizes to run. Lots of choices in both R-comps and street tires.

My buddy is planning on running 15x8's and 225/50's on his E30, ET 22. He's a wheel whore though, he's got 3 sets of stockers, and two sets of 16's.

It's still a shame that you can't get the MX or 615 in that size though

M cars are on the ST exclusion list (kinda sorta thankfully, doesn't help too much)

boiler, do you have any pics of your car with the wheels and tires on from the back?

16x8 RPF1s, +38. BARELY fits is the right word. I may need 5mm spacers in the fronts depending on how much the tires hang off the side and how much they flex. Its very tight with the strut, a little breathing room could help. Good news is it doesn't look like I'll have fender issues in the front. The back is hard to gauge without a tire on. I may play conservative and buy 215/45s the first time just to be sure I can get the tires in (they're always wider than they say anyways).

I don't have tires yet, I'm holding out as long as possible to see what sizes and tires come out next spring. There stands a chance falken 615s could come out in 215/45/16
otherwise my options are 215/45 or 225/45 Hankook Z212s

My vote goes for Hankook. I'm going to put those tires on my 16 x 7.5 Borbet Type E's for street/autoX/wet track use. R-comps going on 15x8 kosei K1's ET22 custom drilled, money permitting.

How much did these wheels run you? They are just a 15mm spacer away from fitting my car PERFECTLY.

Wheels were 240 a pop from a miata shop that had them custom made.
I was leaning towards the hankooks too, they're cheap. I may order a pair of 225/45s to see if they fit or what it would take to get them to fit. But playing conservative may get the best of me the first time around. I really don't want to cut anything, so I'm planning on raising the car until it clears. There's enough neg. camber in the back it should be pretty close to fitting as it is.

Worst case scenario roll the fenders out a bit. Ideally I would be running 245's at every corner, but only tire that wide that is available here is in 17" and up, and I can't afford to burn out 17" tires every summer.

240 a pop? Did you ever find out how much the Kosei's are custom made from tire rack?

They're 199, but they don't fit on the car.
The A arm in the back and the wheel fight for the same space if you want to keep the fenders whole. Somehow it only takes an extra 1/2" clearance to not hit it.

The 16x8's? What offset?

I'm not too worried about honda fitment though, I'm looking for low 20's offset (22-23 for 8" wide wheel)

Holy crap, just found out that the R-S2's come in 245/45 R 16 !!

Those would be nice on a 16x8.5" wheel, but the fenders would need to be "massaged."

I think 225's are enough though, a similar set up car to mine pulled 0.94 g's on 225/50R15 falken 615's. God damn.
