Newbie looking for advice

Just wanted to say hello to all, and no I dont own a honda yet, but am looking at getting into one to build up etc. So any help or anything on a civic would be great, such as a good year to buy and what engine to look for etc. Not sure on my budget yet, roughly 5-6k at the moment. So once again hello and look forward to reading some posts. :help:
