brighter bulbs

i want brighter lights. are there any non-rice alternatives to hid's? i was thinking sylvania silverstars but some say silverstars = rice

04CivicTurbo 01-26-2007 06:43 AM

If you really want to have a great change, go HID. most cars nowadays (including civics) already come with sylvannia bulbs... I'd say save your $50 and buy an HID set...

My buddy has raybrigg halogen bulbs and they're way brighter than my OEM. I was probably going to get those or PIAA whenever my stockers blow. I don't want to have to worry about glare with an HID kit.

If you dont wanna go HID..then you should look into PIAA PLASMA GT-X Theyre really bright and give you the HID look. go to Automotivelightingusa.com thats where i got my bulbs.

silverstars are not rice, so dont worry about it. They are right as crap, and yea at a automotive store they run ya around 40 dollars. Also (maybe its just my friends civic) they do burn out rather quickly.

i'll vouch for that, silverstars burn quicker than regular halogen bulbs - MUCH quicker

take a look around... the was a kid on here who was looking for some luxury style blue bulbs... he ended up finding them and i think they worked out for him on brightness.....

word...i bought some and mine burnt out in 3 weeks. waste of my 40 bucks.

riiice-_- 01-26-2007 11:26 AM

yeah my silverstars burnt out within a couple months of purchasing them, and then i made another mistake and bought the "new and improved" silverstar ultra's. i left one regular silverstar and one ultra and they look exactly the same, only difference is the $10 increase for the ultras. save your money and get this instead.

HIDs $180 shipped.

me too.. Mine burnt out in 3 months. Silverstars do put out whiter light, so it makes the road easier to see though.

BCCentaur3 01-26-2007 04:16 PM

Does anyone know why they burn out so fast?

joe6680 01-26-2007 04:24 PM

I wonder if the year of the car makes a difference... I have an 01 and I have had mine for well over a year. I wonder if people with the shorter life have a newer model where the high and low beam are separate and because the housing is in a smaller confined area the bulb heats up easier and burns out. Just a thought I could be totally wrong, but my buddy has a corolla and his are set up the same way and he is always blowing bulbs.

BCCentaur3 01-26-2007 04:30 PM

So which is the best one to get, looks wise and installation?
