So I've had my Tanabe Racing Medallion on my 2001 Civic Coupe for about 4 months now and everytime it rains I get a rough rattling underneath my passenger seat and around my stick shift. After looking at the damn car over and over I finally noticed that its caused by how my mid-pipe is hanging. I dont know why its doing it only when it rains but my mid pipe sits to one side of the little well underneath the car. Right where the mid-pipe bends to the back part of the exhaust is where the passenger seat is, and tahts where the pipe is only roughly an inch or less from the side of the well. I thought that maybe its because I got an LX model medallion but its compatible with the DX model. I already checked the # for all the exhaust parts and they all match the right model (T-3043Z I think). My question is if anyone else had this problem and have any clue on how to go about fixing it or do I have a defect model? I also made certain taht the exhaust was installed correctly as well.

this problem has been talked about a lot in one of the old threads..i couldnt find the thread but it happens to most of the aftermarket exhaust..the reason being is that most aftermarket exhaust is based on the OEM ones and there were some people who were having that rattling noise when it rained or got wet even with the OEM piping. it has to do with the midpipe and if you have a stock exhaust it can easily be replaced under warranty. after market exhaust owners are out of luck. i think the reason is since its based on the OEM ones it rattles because it has a larger diameter and it expands when its hot and then gets cooled by the rain or snow.
its completely normal. it happens with different exhaust. ive got a magnaflow and it happens. when it rains your pipe like expands or does some **** and your car starts to shake. dont worry about it. its not hurting anything

Mine has done it a couple of times in the rain. I get a really strong vibration right under my stick shift.
But it only happens for 10 seconds and then stops.

thanks for the thread salokod. I'm almost certain this guy is right about the problem cuz I know for certain its being caused because the exhaust doesnt line up properly. Since many of us have the same problem I htink its safe to say that its because of Tanabe's design issues with the Medallion. I'm gonna see if I can somehow relocate the exhaust to line up better....if that doesnt work I'll wrap the mid-pipe section. By the way, does it seem like the mid-pipe hangs kinda low in comparison to the rest of the exhaust??? I already scratched the damn thing going over a speed bump and my car isnt even lowered yet.
yeah the mid piping is very low. i'm lowered about 2.2 in. in the front and about 2.6 in the back, maybe more, and theres some speed bumps i dont even attempt to go over. i got stuck on a speed bump at my school earlier this year and it dented my mid-pipe very slightly. be very careful when you lower your car man.
that shaking/vibration happens to me too.... i thought one of my hangers was off.. it was, so i put it back on, but still does it. But you're right, only when it rains... it's weird.
