Why does everyone like Infinity?
I was just wondering why everyone I see posting (well atleast alot) here like Infinity speakers or choose them for big systems in my opinion they sound ok but are very sloppy sounding and the tweeters are very bright I guess for the price you can't beat them but I just think there are better speakers out there, dont flame me I'm just trying to understand why people dont choose other speakers.

I think that most people think bright is good. I mean, when you get into most peoples car, if you were to look at the settings on the radio, most people would have the bass setting nearly all the way up, and the treble setting at least half way up. i think it has to do with never having heard anything better. I mean, most people have been to a big box (best buy, circuit city, etc.) and in those places, infinity is probably the best there is. far fewer venture into specialty shops where better speakers can be had, even when they are at similar price points.
well, something like that, maybe. But i do agree, they are very bright.

good point bzrollin, I have been installing car audio for about 7 years now and I have heard every type of system you can think of and I just hate the fact that having 10 tweeters and 4 12's is a trend now, instead of having a good sounding high quality system, that wont hurt your ears.

Yeah, our shop is kinda near the hood, so we get a lot of people wanting 6 12s or 4 15s, 2 pairs of by9's in the rear deck and 2 pair of tweeters on the a-pillars of their 70 capiece or whatever. I dont understand how that could sound good to somebody.

I dont understand that either, I laugh everytime I hear a car next to me and all I can hear is tweeters but it's ear pierceing!! It hurts. I have an extensive system I have an all Alpine system Type-X 6 1/2"components in the front Type-X 5 1/4" components in the rear a 15" Type-R and 4 amps I can get loud but it sounds clean.

At one time they supposedly made great amps...but many of their engineers from that era went over to MTX...then MTX suddenly started making some good amps.

Rockford has horrible sound lots of power but no quality. I agree Fonto MTX is coming up with some good amps.
I cant have my system with no Mid-Bass it just dosent sound right, if I disconnect my sub I get decent bass from my front speakers or should I say Mid-Bass.

When i first started to get into car audio, i went the rockford fosgate way because to me it was decently priced subs and amps that i thought sounded allrighty to me and that's why i bought them, plus the local shop i went to didn't have many other choices in the mid-way price range, the rest of their stuff was either crap or way too expensive...
on a side note, a friend of mine looked into getting a job for mcintosh designing amps, they offered him 9 bucks an hour to start out.....9 dollars an hour for his $100,000 electrical engineering degree....he decided to take a different job...one offering $85,000 a yr

I don't get it either, my wife loves her Kappa components, and I think they sound way to brash. Type-X in my car, much more smooth and mellow, but they will go real loud if I push them.
wait..i work for fosgate now and worked for mtx for a year. the same engineer has been heading up mtx since 1997 when the 2300x and 275x came out (black with gold lettering) and the year i was there only one new person was hired and he came from Xtant repair to design the new Xtant amps. Nobody in the engineering dept came from RF when i was there and as a matter of fact, 3 months after I left, an engineer that had been with MTX 5 years came over to RF. quality of both companies is very similar in build quality and are made less that 15 miles apart. RF has more technolgy built in, has more power, you get more watts per dollar, has more efficeint mono amps and RF holds more spl records than anybody in the business. also mtx cant touch RF in the subwoofer dept. we will see with their new 9500 series. they look nice and were very loud at CES
people like RF cause its a legacy name that makes the power it advertises and sounds good. people recognize the name and you get what you pay for and you know the company will stand behind the product and will be in business in a year. We also have the best customer service (pats self on the back)

well a system's quality is based on how well it can play mids... or that's what i think... treble and bass are great... but i prefer sound quality... to be able to hear everything in its fullness rather than just the loudness or anything else =)

I dont disagree that RF has the most bang for your buck but we recently did some noise tests and RF is not very clean but the power is good and they make a good product that I cant deny.

I have infinity 6.5 2-way speakers all around. They were fairly cheap in comparison, and sound quality is pretty good. The highs are a bit ear piercing, but you can rotate the tweeter so it doesn't point straight at your ear. Much better sound than lower-end kenwood and sony that I've heard. Infinity is a well known brand, but there are better ones(boston acoustics or mb quartz).
