Warranty question
Hi,
What does the warranty cover? Does it cover only "manufacturer defects", or other problems as well? As in, if I happen to run over a curb at a fast speed that blew my struts, is that covered within warranty period? Or am I looking at out-of-pocket expense?
Common sense tells me out-of-pocket, but I can't tell...
And, if I put on a CAI, does it automatically void my warranty, or does it have to break something first to void the warranty?
Thanks,
-jp

well it depends on the dealer... but if something breaks... just put the stock air boxes back in...
but if u have one of the faulty airbypass valves... that breaks and jams the throttlebody... that wont be covered...

Hmmm, what's the bypass valve? Is that the water-stopping thing? Do I need it?? I don't take the car offroad or anything, is it likely to happen?
Unless the airbypass valve is something different??
Has anyone had a bad experience with the CAI breaking the throttle body? Other people have said the same thing: "if something breaks, put the stock airbox back in"... but why would something break? What kind of things can break?? I have had a muffler fallen off, brake rotors going out of wack, fuel-injectors getting dirty, air filter getting dirty... but I have never had an engine problem... is it likely that something can and will go wrong with these 7th gen civics??
Whew, lots of questions... thanks a bunch!

yes the air bypass valve is the water stopping thing.. but with a CAI the filter is high enuff so it wont suck up water unless ur driving thru deep puddles.. and that will result in hydrolocking your engine...
and i belive the honda dealer records everything that u did to ur car... so if you came in with ur car lowered one day.. and a week later u come in with stock springs and complaining about ur blown shocks.. they wont replace it... so just replace the stock airbox when u are going to bring ur car into the dealer for servicing

Some kid came on the AEM EMS forum bitching about how part of the bypass valve got sucked in and ruined his motor. Apparently it was a built and swapped motor. Sucks.

Hmmm... that's the thing that's scaring me... a bypass valve that can break and kill the motor?? so I don't go with a bypass valve, then water that can ruin the motor??
How "deep" is deep puddle that can kill the motor?? Sucking water... so if water splashes onto the filter, that'll be a problem yeah??
You know what, this is getting nuts... let me repost this in the Other performance area...
Thanks boys!

well, only if you filter is totally covered by water, you engine doesnt pull enough air to suck water up the pipe so when it rains its fine. And the bypass valves that broke off have been recalled and they now sell new ones.so thier safe now.
